I got ambitious last fall and took on maybe too many improvements-

it's only time and materials, after all-

so I thought I'd put it all together here so you- all can point and laugh.

Today it's the transmission adaptor's day.

It's just a section of a bellhousing welded to an inch- thick spacer plate.

The thickness was dictated by the flare of the bell and the bolt pattern

of the transmission- any thinner and the bolts ended up right in

the plane of the bell.

Joe the Welder (yep) did a great job considering how different the

materials were. He said the bell had contamination, but not enough

to compromise the strength.

More as it goes together.

It's the most exotic 2002 in the world.

Yeah but hes also running a newer (3.0L) motor that is turbo'd, right?

Is this (the rear tranny setup) cost effective? Im assuming no but hey, never hurts to ask.

Funny- I tried to make a Volvo 142 trans and the GE motor fit back there

with the the stock diff- and it would ALMOST work if I cut off the trans

input shaft and went clutchless...

Anyway, the transmission does fit. It hits the stock

mounts going in, so I guess they have to go.

Sadly.

And it's about 1/2'" too long in the shifter as it sits now.

(it's a Nissan close- ratio "4" speed... out of a roadster)

To the driveshaft shop tomorrow to see if they

can make me a 52 3/8" one- piece...
