in the UK these were a dealer option and/or after market and fairly popular in the 70s with many different cars.... I've owned my UK RHD '75 2002Tii since '84 and love the roof.... although much of the time in the UK due to weather it was closed but now in California it's always open....

I've always liked those Webastos. I was thinking of installing one on my 2002 a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, the local dealer/installer indicated that they did not install the fabric roofs, just the glass ones.

Does anyone have any more info, pictures, or stories? thanks

I had a parts car that ahd been fitted with a webasto and it developed 3 inch cracks at each corner that radiated to the A and C pillar. When we rolled the car to get the sub frames off, the entire roof lurched over 10 degrees. Made me think how much the roof braces the rest of the body.

Another local car developed similar cracks and the owner had to re-inforce the roof with extra pieces of steel. From memory I think he added a couple of kilos of steel.

They look nice, but I'd never own one.

"Why is one of my reverse lights on in 4th?"
