got it about 80% fully hooked up. Need to find a way to get an air filter on there, maybe there are some air filter socks, or mini filters of sorts.

I could not find a way to fit a wastegate on the turbo, it would not fit against the fender well, or under the turbo. and I didnt want to take a hammer to it, because I do have to draw a line somewhere which would have worked. any Ideas to monitor boost without a wastegate. I do have a blowoff valve, and a boost controller, and an external wastegate , which wont mount anywhere.

In order to get the turbo piping to fit I had to cut off the 74 bumper brackets. but fear none, I did not compromise the frame rails whatsoever.

I was goign to take it around the block, but the alternator wont tension the belt (late model 320 alternator doesnt fit) so Im waiting on an e30 318 alternator.

little crack in the radiator leads to me needing a bigger and better radiator.

Well, I gotta List of some things I gotta check out this weekend, before I get it back on the road

I have to measure the distance between the turbo and the firewall to see if I can fit a sandwich plate there soI can run an External wastegate. From the looks of it, it should be OK. I already got the wastegate, so It's a matter of time now.

from there I have to take teh wastegate flange, have it welded rotated a tiny bit, extended, so that it will go straight under the turbo, and not get too close to anything.

Next up is mount the 318 alternator, and tensioner arm

Wire in the m30 Auto TPS, its in place, and good to go, but not wired in. so Ill have to bust out my mulitmeter and find out that business.

Hopefully with the turbo moved up/out 2inches there will be more room to run an Air filter.

gotta see if a headlight fits with the charge pipes in their location, and finish plumbing the charge pipes into BOV, and plenumb.

Have to wire in VDO gauges, senders are in place, just need to pick up an "on switch" so I can run em from the battery, and not hack into the wiring harness.

got lots of urethane bushings to go in, so thats on the list as well.

Make a Bracket for Mounting the Coilpack, and 320 Radiator.

find better plugs for 320 Head injetor ports.

drill hole, and JB weld GM air temp sensor.

possible to look into s14 starter.

take to exhause shop.

put in boost controllrar

Mini update,

Got the alternator on, therefore the fan belt is all good to go, and I can move on.

Before I put in the radiator (larger capacity E21 radiator). I have to figure out a way to mount the wastegate successfully. I cant use an adaptor plate, because of the lack of space. However, I Think If I can adapt the bracket from the factory wastegate, to make it a little closer to the turbo, It would then just barely fit. With some test fitting, I can get it to work, but I still have to re-drill some brackets in the factory wastegate bracket to re-position it.

Then its the charge pipes, and finding a way to position the throttle such that It can idle successfully, without manual help.

I gotta move that a little closer, Now, it fits a little bit better with the turbo clocked a little bit, but once I can fit that on correctly it's go time!

any advice?

So I was able to get it able to drive now. Everything is hooked up, I just need to Iron out a couple things, and Tune the beast.

Car cant hold an idle, cause it goes too lean. didnt have my comp, so I couldnt adjust the tune. but I could drive it, but just blipping the throttle when I came to a stop.

I can say up to 3K rpms It hauls much harder than my 318is, and I wasnt going full throttle due to lack of tune. It wouldnt run past that (3k anyway) due to lack of enrichment and tuning.

couple of problems right now that I need to iron out:

Boost gauge was not picking up any boost, however, when I gave it some gas, and it revved up, you could feel the pressure in the silicone clamps, with a squeeze. Wastegate didnt seem to be working, however, according to the boost gauge I wasnt making enough boost anyway....

Eventually I'll have an external welded into the manifold but for now I want it to be drivable. But Im wondering why it wasnt picking up any boost, maybe I had it placed in the wrong vacuum line, because the gauge does work. (tested with other pressures)

enjoy the pictures.

the M30 throttle body doesnt have any places for an ICV. I might have to create a little nipple off of one bracket to allow in some air. I really thought that with a prop, the idle speed could be adjusted Via throttle linkage.... like older cars...

The tii gas pedal got stuck, then broke off going up the hill ahah

On a Side note, I cant quite seems to figure out how the Tach wiring is supposed to work.

The megamanual says

:If your tachometer was previously driven by a single coil, and the IDM signal doesn't work, your tachometer will need input from two coils to indicate properly. The trick is that you need to tie all the coils together, without allowing them to ground each other. Below is a simple circuit (with Digi-Key part numbers) showing how to interface the EDIS system with your tach:EDIS_tach.gif."

I hve no idea what it is telling me to do....

couple other issues at hand:

Blow off valve isnt opening..

its set in the middle, Ill try loosening it up all the way next.

The turbo itself is acting really funny as well...

it doesnt start boosting until 3.5 K and never hits max boost. It just consistently climbs slowly till I shift. and the max I hit is about 11PSI, but I feel it would continue..

Im wondering if this is due to an internal wastegate failure, or something along those line..

To get the tach to work you need to build something like this..

EDIS_tach.gif

except you need to have 4 legs of the 1n4004.

I might actually have one built somewhere....I would have to check though. I can check tonight if I remember and you are welcome to it for the cost of shipping and a 6 pack
