Roundie trim question

Hey guys, this piece came with my lastest car, and I've never seen another like it. The super early 16oo's seem to have a similar painted trim, but only in the the area's where the common ones are embossed. This one was originally, and almost still is, painted black through the whole smooth channel, there are no embossed areas. Anyone seen one of these?

My best guess would be from a very early 1966 1600. I've seen a couple other odd variations on pics of the earliest build cars. Tom Jones' 66 has the one with the black painted over the embossed portions, but that may pre-date his car. Very interesting!

was on really early 1600s--and I'm not sure even that was factory. Someone (CD?) must have a factory publicity photo or a 1966 sales catalog with an early 1600's back end. That should solve the controversy.

Here's another variation on it. I don't have a date for this photo, but perhaps some more savvy '02ers can identify it. It's an original publicity photo.

This looks like a very early production 1968, it is EuroSpec so the taillights are yellow dot (someone correct me if I'm wrong) and this car is sporting the uber rare dog dish hubcaps painted Polaris (except for the edges) and the uber fragile aluminum trim rings that later morphed into the full wheel cover as we know it today. Picture below is of a similar daterange front end.
