My red steering box is finally installed!

don't get too excited, it is not a CR, it came with a parts car and I had it for over 5 years. I knew my car's steering box was bad, but never realized how bad, until I watched a video of me driving my ex and making an u turn! It was the smoothest u turn I've seen! Make long story short, I decided to swap mine for the red one, knowing it was the smoothest of the spare ones.

I pulled the old steering box, and it was indeed awful, it binded slightly at two places, and then it released suddendly, what a mess! Now I wonder how many drives would have been that much more enjoyable with a smooth steering!

I came to the conclusion that 90% of what we do in our cars is steer, shift and brake, basically in that order of frequency. Steering is constant, and should be given the most attention... enough with the self lecture, I am going to test my work at QS. Next, it is the shifter! It needs to go: click, click just like Pikachu 2's! If I could only adapt the new Rabbit shift knob, just perfect feel!

At Vintage, Tim Murray drove Dieter & I drove his turbo for a bit. (great fun) Mine is worth 1/10 of his, but he liked how the shifter clicks into place very smartly and the smooth new clutch. The little things (or not so little) can make a big diff. in the driving experience. For me, it was a joy to have new Yoko's mounted after the tired hockey pucks that came with it.
