i am not looking at any performance, just that i want to install tires that will look correct on early steelies having in mind an old school look.

is 155-80-13 too small ?

i think 175-70-13 will look too fat

165's are super hard to get cheap here in Quebec.

thanks for any inputs

Really?

I've always liked the look and drive of the 185/70/13. Wasn't that original at one point?

John

I dont know if that was ever oe...but its a great size.....and very period correct. Every1 ran that size back in the day......then 205/60's........then I remember the hot cars began doing plus 1 and 2 sizing.....

ok, but back to the topic, lets say that the 165's are totaly unavailable in my region, nothing, nada.

i can get a set of 155-80-13 or a set of 175-70-13.

which one, considering i am not making a race 02, it is automatic and totaly bone stock and i just want the old look rather than a fat look, on 5" early steelies.

thanks.

Pat.....because both are not really good sizes..its a subjective call...

185/70 is @ 23.2 OD

175/70 is @ 22.65

155/80 is @ 22.76

205/60 is @ 22.69

Pat,

I have 175 70 13's on 320is wheels and they look and more importanly "feel" just right.

However, if money is no object, you can get repro XAS Michelins in the OE 165 13 size ...maybe from Coker tire?

good luck,

I have sumitomo 175/70/13's and they're great for handling. I had 185/70/13's which I thought were a nice soft ride, but had an occasional tire rub, and a little harder to turn.

I also have all stock suspension.

I'm pretty sure 165/70/13 was oe, no?

175/75 is very close in overall size to stock. At 60mph on your gauge you are doing 60.1mph.

I have that size on my car and they look fine, sorry I cant find a pic right now to show you. Beaner7102

185/70 is closer to the original diameter. However, i'd wager that 175/ 70-13 is more commonly available than any of the other sizes. Important if you need to replace a tire in a few months/ years when there might not be a handy replacement

175/70/13 is a common Hyundai (accent) Tire Size, so hopefully the Hyundai's stay on the road for a while.
