Choices are pretty slim.

If I had to choose, the best of what's available would be the Toyo Spectrum, Toyo Extensa or the Falken 828.

.

I was able to pick up some Yoko Avid Tourings this spring and I really like them for everyday driving. Check your local Yokohama retailer or www.tires.com - $69 each. For an economical choice, you can get Kumho Power Star 758s for $47 each.

Tirerack has 3 choices listed right now:

I recently got a set of the Sumitomo HTR T4 in 185/70-13 from Tire Rack and am actually very pleased with them. Good dry grip, they don't squeal like pigs and were very reasonably priced. I only have about 2000 miles on them so far, so I can't comment on the wear. I have also only seen very little rain with them so far too.

From the above link, the Kumho Power Star 758 has the lowest tread wear number (could mean the stickeyest) and the highest load rating. I'd go with those if I had to choose.

I have the AVIDs on mine and after 3000 miles they still look new. Too bad they aren't available anymore.

As for the sumi's, I have the 15" ones on my Sunfire and those are great tires even on that car, lots of grip and they look good too. I've put a lot more miles on them and they still have lots of tread.

Mike, not sure if you might have something similar in your area, but in the Washington, DC area, there is a mobile installer, TireVan. They still show Yoko AVID T4s available on their website (tirevan.com) for $62.71 each. Maybe there are some smaller dealers or installers around who still have some in stock.

availablity of 13" tires (particularly 185/70's and similar sizes) - their overall response wasn't all that satisfactory, but their e-mail did mention that there's still a fair amount of inventory in the pipeline, and that any Yokohama dealer should still be able to order them.
