72 '02 Tranny concerns/ignorance

New to this forum, but would love some help.

Looking at a 72 2002 california car.

Needs a new clutch, but there is also ALOT of play in the shifter itself, seems really loose in general. I am already going to replace the clutch, what else could be going wrong that i can not see? Could the loosness be caused by the clutch? What are we talking price wise for parts only to overhaul the tranny and eliminate problem areas?

Probably shot bushings for the shifter which are easy enough to replace. Something else to check out is the shifter platform that attaches to the transmission, the 2 bolts can become loose causing some slop. The bushings are not to expensive, talk to Blunt on this board and he can set you up.
