Anybody know what kind, and where, this nut goes?

judging by the amount of smeared metal on it, i'm gonna guess this came off the half-shaft of a pre-74 02.

there's no scale to really judge its size, though.

they are not uncommon.

Yeah, it's an M10. Now I'm pretty sure it goes to the guibo.

I'm putting the rear subframe bushings on and RealOEM says self locking hex nut.

That nut will go on the bolt just to where the bolt is about to come out the other end, then it jams. How does that nut self lock?

The "crowned" section of the threads are undersized and create an interference fit with the bolt threads. These nuts probably should not be reused, although many people get away with it.
