What audio system do you have in your 02?

Blaupunkt Frankfurt, mono, single speaker in the console. Tossed the Alpine head & BA speakers in the doors the week after I bought the car.

Feeeeeefig Assssssssss Offffffffffffff...... You DOLT!!!!!!

" There isnt much electronics in a stock 02...so

how much is too much? Is a 4 or 5 channel

anp and a head unit too much draw? "

exactly - no electronincs is the way you should keep it for many reasons

snake-0-wires is bad

added electrical draw is bad

added weight is bad

your natural 02 motor/exhaust noise is good

bluetooth, iPod, other'stuff' is bad

too many people here have reported

major collision stories with 02's - having

your attention focused on such devices, in a

nice bare vintage car just adds to your

chances for disaster

PLUS+ it just adds more reasons for bums to break

your windows and other nasty damage when they

look in your windows and see all that nice new

high-powered technology

i put the "least old" headunit i had in stock after taking apart a few cars. a 10year old pioneer. it is connected to what looks like some mbquartz 5in speakers the po put in the rear deck. that is all. more than enough noise for when i am not listening to m10 or the tires at their cornering limit....;-)

Rule #1 don't consider doing any serious audio without an upgraded alternator! The factory units simply don't provide enough juice. My solution is a 90amp from an '88 530 I beleive it's Bosch AL49x. Needed a little love on the bushings to fit in the 2002 mount, and it's internally regulated so you have to wire appropriately. Pulleys were another issue that somehow worked out right.

That being said, here's what I'm running....

Kenwood head unit +mp3

10 Disc changer

800W Kenwood Amp

Ipod Interface

6" Boston Acoustic round under dash

5x7 Boston Acoustic Oval in rear parcel shelf

(2) 6.5" Fosgate Subs under rear seat facing forward *NLA*

The AMP + 10Disc Changer + Ipod interface are mounted on a vertical panel in the trunk which hides the trunk mounted battery.

I'd like to add a cap sometime just to keep the voltage consistent, but haven't gotten aroud to that yet.
