Thanks for posting this unusual car. Was the original color Colorado? Looks like it has a 73 front bumper on it and 74+ steel wheels.

well, mine is the 440th sold in N.A. and sports the same 'sell-it red' crappy respray over original colorado as shown above. (currently sits, gutted, under tarps enjoying bay breezes, saved from the crusher)

Yes they built BMW 02's at Moorkens. But normally they would get a VIN which was not in the BMW registry. They were part of the CKD or SKD VIN series. But as this is one of the first it may have gotten an official BMW VIN.

well, the 117th US spec Tii - they'd already made a few before then!

BMW 2002 tii # 2700082 was manufactured on April 16, 1971 and delivered the same day to the BMW importer in Belgium.

The original colour was Colorado, paintcode 002.

If you are thinking the bumper "horns" on that car's bumper make the bumper a 1973, the 1972 Euro cars had those same bumper horns.

The parts catalog still show those bumper horns available for 1972 Euro cars

OK Bill. It makes it worse when cars are changed thru the years by their owners - making it tough to identify what year the car is.

Mine is 2719550, '71 too, made in Munchen . This should mean it's #550, right? And what does the number 19 mean? I guess the factory where the car was made, right?
