What bracket is this for and what bolts to use???

okay guys,

i finally tracked down the source of my oil leak. 2 of the lower timing cover bolts were missing. there is a bracket that i thought just covered the bolts but in reality, the missing bolts also go through this bracket. this bracket holds the oil dipstick and is located right under the oil filter. it also looks like it also holds some accessory up front but i have no idea what.

first, it's a 13mm bolt but i need to know what length do i need. anyone have a part # for these 2 bolts (else i'll probably try to stop by the hardware store and see if i can find something).

second, what is the bracket for?

btw, it's a 71 motor.

that's what held your smog pump in place when you had one - the car has been de-smogged. You can take it off and just get a 4 bolt cover for the dipstick, or leave it there and get the proper bolts.

I took mine completely off, put it in a vice, cut off the unneeded smog pump attachment bits, filed the edge flat and smooth and then sanded for a nice finish. I put it back on and wolla. This is the free approach.
