My 81 Euro spec E12 528i is a time warp, it still has the original spare tire, a V rated 195/70-14 tire. It looks like it's never been on the ground. You don't see V rated tires in this size, let alone H rated is hard to find these days in that size. I just put new 15" tires on E34 style 5 rims on the E12. For TUV road worthiness inspection in Germany, I was told that if your tires are over a certain age, your car will flunk the inspection.

Good info. A reputable tire store will not mount old tires that you bring to them due to the liability. I think Discount Tire won't install your tires if they are 6 years or older, maybe it's 8.
