Trunk Emblem Location???

Somewhere along the way my '75 trunk lid got replaced with an earlier one and therefore has no mounting holes for the trunk emblem. I'm going to have holes drilled so I can have it mounted. My paint guy was wondering if there's a drawing of the hole location available.

Kinda want the holes in the right location.

Ive actually been searching for more pics of you car for awhile now.

The day before I got mine I saw yours, and thought "wow I would love to get an 02 that looks like that!"

The next day on craigslist I found a 75k mile 76 single owner in Jade Green, and now couldnt be happier. (except with maybe an s14 and bumper delete, 5spd, etc...)

Why do you want to drill holes and mount an emblem? Not sure it's a BMW? There are plenty of other roundels all over the car to prove it. Leave it alone, the earlier cars looked much better without another roundel.

The trunk lid is not supposed to have an emblem on it. The emblem is at the rear of the car, slightly to the right side between the license plate holder and the "2002" emblem.

all square tail lights has the emblem on the trunk lid...except the turbo of course.

all emblems that i am aware of fo the trunk lid must have studs to hold them.

The "late" trunk lid has a recessed area where the roundel fits. The Roundel may not sit flush to an "early" trunk lid with no recess?

I just measured my ' 75 and my wife's ' 76 and both have the distance between the top of the trunk beltline trim and the bottom of the roundel as 0.2" or 5 mm.

My 74tii is getting repainted and I am deleting the trunk lid emblem. (along with a lot of other stuff.) I prefer the cleaner look.

Even on my 69, I removed the emblem from the rear panel.

But that's just me.

since the emblem is moulded around the boot curve can't you sort of guesstimate that way?

I guess it's just personal preference. Besides, I got one sitting on my shelf.

The roundel has two pins sticking out the underside so won't sit flat without the holes.

It's a Kamei air dam. There's a member on this board who was selling them. I used a piece of black, self-adhesive aftermarket door moulding along the leading edge.
