Relay & Sensor Quiz

Recommended Posts

Every year at Mid America 02 Fest, Bo Black gives us a quiz, and the one who answers the most questions correctly gets recognition. Here's an easy one for some of you.

In my quest to order a part, I came across something I thought was interesting. The picture below has arrows pointing to certain items which can no longer be ordered; nor is there a description of the items.

Let's determine what these items are for future reference.

Thanks, and please help.

You'll have to enlarge the picture to read the red print which indicates the price and part number for those items still available to us.

Les, I was hoping that 15 was the temperature control for the cold start on the tii. Do you know that part number? Thanks

I believe #9 may be the tii cold start relay (1311354686, $265.68 at Real.Oem). When I priced one many years ago it was ~$100 and I just put in a push-button switch like was referred to recently.

#15 looks a more like a transmission reverse light switch than a brake light switch, but it is hard to tell. Real Oem shows the brake light switch as #9 on fiche 34/28.

Best, Fred

Fred, I'm looking for the part number of the temperature control sender that tells the cold start relay when it's cold enough for fuel to the injector, or hot enough that it doesn't need it. It mounts close to the temperature gage sender and has two prongs surrounded by a bake-lite material to which the wires hook, surrounded by a rubber flat like sleeve.

Thanks

EDIT: I found it: A 13 62 1 355 006 delay switch

I should have one or two of those around somewhere. Let me know if you want a used one. After I did the push-button to replace the tii relay I replaced the tii sender with a second water temp sender for my aftermarket VDO gauge.

Fred

Yes, a used one would work if the top is still intact.

Let me know how much?

Thanks

Mike, I have two senders. Both are same length from crush washer down, one has a large head and good bakalite, the other has a smaller head and chipped bakalite. I tested both in a water bath, specs and markings on senders as follows, pic below.

Short Head Time Switch

----------------------

VDO

35°C

150°C max

4.74

12V 40W

36/4/1

R_cold = 44.5 Ohm (T=20°C)

R_hot = 153 Ohm (T=52°C)

Long Head Time Switch

----------------------

VDO Made in Germany

35°C

150°C max

6.79

12V 40W

36/5/25

R_cold = 51.9 Ohm (T=20°C)

R_hot = 220 Ohm (T=52°C)

I think a reasonable price is $18 + shipping. If interested, drop me a note at fbeck at sentech dot org

Thanks, Fred
