An account of prepping a Volvo 122S to for the La Carrera Panamericana in 2008. Totally Volvo-centric, but an interesting account on what it takes to field a car for that event. The car will be participating in the even later this month.

Are there any links with the entrant list for this year?

I saw pics of the Studebaker that was over here in Livermore, and had the chance to meet and drive with a 'band of brothers" from the Bay Area and Mexico that were going to be running a Mini.

cars need to be pre 67 so not sure if there ever has been a 1600

Those Studebaker are basically nascar cars

Funny when I posted these last 2 posts,

I thought well at least Steve J will respond.

Well,

I didn't see the brothers, but I did see that Rick Row is running a car. Heckuva nice guy. I met him ~many~ years ago when he had first opened his NorthBay Bavarian shop and ran a tech session for the club.

extremely fun to read that stuff.... im only about 1/4 of the way through jaimie's giant stack of old GRMs, and these project builds (especially vintage ones) are my favorites!

Alec & I were watching a show on TV about this race. Lots of old Mustangs, an old Volvo, a couple old Falcons, a Studebaker, a Jag, etc. It looked like FUN. They also got to eat some excellent-looking Mexican food enroute. I was surprised at how aggressive & fast an old (modified!) Falcon could be.

I didn't see that lime-ade 2000 coupe on TV. It would be fun to talk with them and see that car up close. Big-time racing is just not interesting to me, but the Panamerica, LeMons, the BABE rally ---- all cool stuff to me!
