San Diego Auto Museum in Balboa Park: Porsches now featured

Anyone who loves to walk around parks should visit Balboa Park in San Diego. It is very close to the airport and has wonderful museums, including a very nice auto museum (also has motorcycles). The last time I visited, they featured Mustangs. This time, it was PORSCHES! Most of these cars are private owned and have current registrations.

Here is some eye candy. Hope you enjoy these as much as I did.

Joel - I didn't even think about the (3) threads. Just wanted to share some pics I took of various things. Too bad I missed the SoCal event last Saturday and the Cars & Coffee yesterday.

Cool and rainy here in VA. It was mostly sunny all last week in CA. I miss being out there already.

Does anyone here know about the special center-mount generator on the Carrera engine? According to one book I have (Legendary Porsche by Randy Leffingwell), this center-mount fan allows fresh air to enter from BOTH the front and back of the housing (shroud) to more effectively cool the engine (doubled the airflow). The same book mentions that due to all the shafts and bevel gears for the dual distributors and 4-cams, a full rebuild of this engine would take over 120 shop hours with setting the timing taking 8 hours or longer!

And to think my grandpa has a 356 Roadster in his garage he took apart in the 60's... Maybe I need to go pick it up and put it back together!

I would love to see pictures of your grandfather's 356!
