I had to operate one like that a few years ago before I "retired" from emergency services.....Arkansas keeps some old equipment in service.

We've got a couple still in operation... think the oldest is a '57, but it doesn't really get used that much. We've got a '36 or '37 Ford sitting across the street with an open-top and huge awesome grill on it. It's like a gigantic Ford roadster. Yeah, no top whasoever. If it's winter time and there's a fire, you just get frickin' cold. It still runs, and it would be awesome to restore someday, but damn that'd be a huge project...
