Where can I send Blauplunk radio and speaker for repair?

Or is this repair better done locally?

I've done two searches, worded differently each time, trying to find a vendor to repair, and clean up the radio that came out of my car.

Does anyone have a good resource for this?

Thanks,

jim...just my opinion...but unless you have one that's extremely rare, they are a pretty easy radio to find....i don't what model you have...but i have at least a 1/2 dozen misc Blau's scattered around my barn

it may be cheaper to replace than repair but i don't know what electronic repairs are going for this century

Esty speaks words of wisdom here. I had a very difficult time finding someone to repair a Blaupunkt. When I did, the cost was $100 for evaluation and then more to fix problems.

Instead, I bought three Blaupunkt Frankfurts, tossed one, installed one, and am selling one. I paid $75-100 for each of them.

If I was to do it over again, I would probably buy one from one of the vintage radio guys, selling on and off of eBay who refurbish them.

Matthias sold me knobs and a chrome face plate. Nice guy to work with.

I've heard and seen posts that Peter is also a great guy

But to answer your question directly, I believe these folks will repair it for you.

Thanks John...one thing I haven't decided on is how to handle the issue of the sound system. Since my resto has everything more or less original or will look date correct, I am not going to have a modern era system installed in my dashboard.

One thing I'm considering is a satellite/iPod/CD unit with four speakers. Thinking about putting the whole thing in the glove box...but may opt for a trunk mount system with a remote control.

The radio I have now may be repaired and installed just to complete the vintage look.

I have a pair of Eurotrash's kick panels for speaker install and may cut holes in the rear parcel shelf for speakers if I decide that's the way to go.

Last...but not least...I may just delete the radio altogether (original and aftermarket) ...use my iPhone with the bluetooth headset...and just not fool with any sound system.

I may be over thinking this.

Thanks,

If you want period appropriate, here's what I have (with iPod connector): http://www.beckerautosound.com/Classic/Classic%20porsche,ferrari,bmw,%20info.htm

now: '72 Inka 2000 touring, '82 Alpina C1 2.3  & '18 328d wagon (daily driver)

before: a lot of old BMWs (some nice, some not so much), a few air-cooled 911s and even a water-cooled Cayman S

They attempted to repair the Becker in my '94 Mercedes.

I sent it to them, and when I got one back it was still messed up. The buttons didn't work. They said send it back, so I did. Then they said they only have one with an iPod connection, and it was an extra $50 or $60, so I said OK. With this one, I can't get the volume to go very loud with the iPod connection. They said to send it back again. This time I said 'no' because I had to pay the shipping both ways. It was $20 each way plus the repair cost. I could have bought a great aftermarket stereo for what this one cost me.

Thanks,

This is my plan.

After giving it more thought...I'll probably go this way.

Another option is to go with an in-car ipod system with amp and speakers. I know others on this list went in this direction.

If I were to do this, I'd put it in the glove box or the trunk.

Thanks,
