Pretty cool. It was only 1 month off from actual production. Mines painted a produced in March and it says Jan-Feb. Cool tool!

my automatic 02 has been delievered to an Ontario dealer directly from germany per Andreas e-mail.

your decoder suggest usa ?!?

Hello PatAllen, thanks for your inquiry. No, the VIN decoder only identify if your BMW is USA or Euro version, not identify the importer or city, or export date. The exactly date and importer only was supplied for Mr. Harz.

If appear Region: USA, your BMW 2002 is U.S.A. version car, not exported to USA necessarily

My supposedly 70 2002 comes up as a 69. I remember it was manufactured Nov 5 69 and delivered to Hoffman two days later. Does that make it a 69?

interesting

correct me if I am wrong, but I believe Germany uses the date of manufacture to determine the year designation of the car.  For example, your Nov 5, 1969 date of manufacture would be considered a 1969 in Germany, while it could be designated a 1970 model per US registration standards.

I haven't a clue about German titling and registration rules. But U.S. model years, for purposes of titling and registration, generally began with cars produced in or after August of the preceding year. Thus, my '70 was produced in late September '69.

Correct. Likewise in the UK (certainly in the '70s). My Nov '73 built Touring languished unsold in a BMW Dealership until finally sold in Sep '74. It was thus "titled" a '74; had it been sold 31 Dec '73, it would have been a '73.
