Any other '71 1600 owners out there?

I know of my car and Eastsidebimmer from Indianapolis - our cars are 10 or 12 apart, I forget. Per McCartney's "BMW 2002 Restoration Guide," there were 232 imported to the US as 1971s, VINs 1572931-1573162.

I did some google searching and found little more than the fact that one was used in the Houston 24 Hours of LeMons earlier this year. I like the idea of that race, but I hate seeing one of my car's brothers used!

Looks great! Where does your VIN fall in the sequence?

My VIN (1571725) doesn't fall in that sequence. It's always been registered as a '71, as far as I know, but technically I guess it was built in late 1970.

I'm so used to people asking what year it is, and replying "A '71!", that I don't think I could get used to saying that it's a '70. lol
