Thoughts on this 72tii?

Other than a few minor details it looks like a good driver based on those pictures and story.

I can go into more detail if you'd like, but I usually like to see cars in person and get $250 for doing so. Too bad it's not in the SF Bay Area or Northern California. :)

I will give details on what I see on this one for free though.... :b.... What are you looking to do with it, how perfect of an unmolested example are you looking to find? Presentable driver, show car, keep it forever, or???

a few keywords for search purposes... 1972 2002tii tii Golf VIN 2761237 for sale on eBay Jan. 2010 in Portsmouth Virginia

I did not see the VIN listed in the http://www.bmw2002registry.com/ but there are a few very close ones.

Looks nice. It is a pretty early car and looks to be very original. I am always a little apprehensive when the undercarriage is fully detailed or reconditioned. It could be done as start of a resto or could be trying to hide something. I am not accusing anything I would just want to touch it before I buy it,

But I occasionally browse ebay and other for sale sites and if I see a tii, I will save the pics (if allowed) and record the serial number. So, I have a small database of tii's that have been for sale.

This one has the same serial number as one I captured on 4/27/2005. It looked pretty good back then, so I would assume it's been pretty well taken care of. I attached a few pics. HTH.

I am going to try to look at it tomorrow if I can schedule it. I also think my mechanic may have worked on the car. According to his email, the owner knows my cars. I have never seen the tii or the M5 he has for sale. The owner was quick to respond to my email and seemed forthcoming. If you have questions/ interest, why not contact him? ArdenK is correct about the cost to ship. I am looking at a really nice M635CSi in SoCal and the 2k in shipping might kill the deal.

More former BMW's than it is possible to list.

All US spec reflectors side and rear have been removed sometime in the past few years, and this means they were welded up and the car was painted.

In the listing Q&A section:

Q: Is the car painted BMW Golf color or something else?

A: It's an original BMW Golf color car. It has been touched up over the years, but it is a Golf car. Thx Tim

I'd gamble that the car has been totally repainted since it would be very hard to match faded old Golf paint (new underhood stickers ready for install?) " a little surface rust above the rear wheel well on the passenger side " could mean that there was a spot fixed when the car was last painted and now it is popping out again after just a few years.

"the car is totally original and unmolested." Well kind-of, I guess. I'd drive it, it looks like a nice car, but the E30 wheels and tires make the ride height too high IMO. Also wondering what the newish looking undercoating is hiding.

Keep us posted.
