That's an interesting picture. It must be one of the prototypes BMW built. I recently found an article in a German car magazine from July 1972, announcing the launch of the BMW 2004. This turned out to be the 520 with a 4-cyl engine. See article (all in German, sorry).

I thought I was pretty well versed in BMW-dom (that means old...), but this was new on me. I love learning new stuff...however, except for the front end, not Frua's best effort. Looks like a Vauxhaul or such. Front bumper looks a little clunky as well. I dont want one. . .But thanks for the contribution, BTW, Dave V. in NC

from the beltline up, but below...

* angle of the door handles is just plain weird

* the sharp beltline crease doesn't have the concavity below like the NK and 2002s, and thus looks odd.

* trunk design is awkward too--tail lights are too low.

Interesting car, though. I had read about 'em but never seen a picture. Thanks for posting.
