Ok, I'll say it since no one else has:

Not a tii.

Big-bumpered, square taillights.

No a/c.

Presumably not low mileage (didn't see mileage listed).

5-speed the only mod of interest.

Bottlecaps. BOTTLECAPS!

Nearly $25k? That's ridiculous.

Of course, hey, it's not my money. If it moved someone, why not?

Also, no sunroof, and the woodgrain gauge cluster panel is black instead. It's pretty nice, but it's not all correct. I'd like to see it done to Bill Williams' standards or the Werk Shop's standards. (all correct, all perfectly clean and sorted)

So the real question is how do you take $30K and turn it into $20K? Maybe this will make some of the speculators get out of the business.

Nice. But only if you're the buyer.

If I did the math correctly, the seller came up short by $5,250.

More, if you count the cost of the car by the original owner (about $4,200. in 1974 dollars).

Wonder how much $$$ went to B-J for fees.

first:

you had a HUGE room of DEMAND, and a few people

with intent on buying = the price was a bargin to a new owner.

A loss to the seller. Auction house always gets their fee.

second:

money money ........money money!

money? . . . . . . . . .money% .......money+

there was a time in this county, a behavior,

manners - where money is not discussed.

what one pays for something is ones own business.

you never asked "how much did you pay for that?"

THIRD:

it's incredible what people do with spark plug wires !!!

Congradulations to the new owner, they will have FUN.

Werk Shop is around 60K+, turn key, I asked. That can go up to 90-100K depending on other stuff. 24K is a good money for a car that is completely redone to bare metal. A quality paint job alone costs over 3-4K, all the way to 10K. When economy heals, these cars will go up in value considerably, I predict. It is just a matter of time.

to a high standard, an Inka big bumper non-tii with upgrades floats an individual's boat, and that same individual was prepared to spend $30 large on a restoration, the auction price was a bargain (even with the B-J 10% buyer's premium that's added to the selling price.

It might be more than you or I is willing spend for that particular car, but if the car is as advertised, there's NO way most people could start from ground zero and wind up with the same product for the same amount of $$

Look at it this way - the buyer paid about $27,500 for a finished, turn key car that (s)he can get into and drive tomorrow WITHOUT the hunt for a solid car to use as the basis for a restoration, the months of chasing parts, the cost of incorporating upgrades (5 speed, etc) the additional months (or years) of hassles and agravation of dealing with a body shop, and the weeks of effort putting the whole puzzle back.

Not to say that there aren't more than a few of us that do all of the above for fun, but it sure looks like this might be one more example of buy the best car you can, and let the builder/restorer take the hit.

Where's the fun in that?

Hell. With all that free time on my hands, I'd be sure to get into trouble. As it is now, at least my wife KNOWS where I am at and WHAT I am spending my money on.
