I as well as many others pay dearly for the privilege of restoring our own cars because it's more fun than taking the cheap way out, which would be to buy one that's been restored already!

It might be more than you or I is willing spend for that particular car, but if the car is as advertised, there's NO way most people could start from ground zero and wind up with the same product for the same amount of $$

Look at it this way - the buyer paid about $27,500 for a finished, turn key car that (s)he can get into and drive tomorrow WITHOUT the hunt for a solid car to use as the basis for a restoration, the months of chasing parts, the cost of incorporating upgrades (5 speed, etc) the additional months (or years) of hassles and agravation of dealing with a body shop, and the weeks of effort putting the whole puzzle back.

Not to say that there aren't more than a few of us that do all of the above for fun, but it sure looks like this might be one more example of buy the best car you can, and let the builder/restorer take the hit.
