This is my favorite photo of an E3.

http://www.seniorsix.org/photos/otherimages/bmw2800_fromBMWAG_b.jpg Looks to be a very early E3. Keys to identifying an early E3, aluminum grilles, door mirror, and C pillar vents are early E3 identifiers.

Here's my early E3 http://coupeking.com/product_id-407.html a 70 2800, built in 12/69.

I've owned two previous 73 Bavaria's and they are awesome cars. John Capoccia recently sold his low mileage barn find golf 74 tii and picked up a 74 Bavaria complete with a 3.5L motronic and 5 speed conversion.

Bavs are great. If you love the greenhouse feel of a 2002, you'd love a Bav. And the interior feels oh-so-right-and-period-correct just like an '02. Like a 3.0CS, it's more of a cruiser than a tosser or a flinger, but it's essentially the same performance as a 3.0 for a fraction of the cost.
