Not many 1971 US-spec 1600s left. This one is rather butchered, though.

'71 1600s are SO rare I'd rather return this to original, but that's me the 1600-2 nut talking. They only made 232 US '71 1600s!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And YES $1500 would be a fine price for this car if the rust is minimal and it is in "driver" condition.

If it were in the greater SF Bay Area i would be happy to perform a pre purchase inspection on it for my usual $200 fee. That goes for E28s as well....
