The dealer's ad says, 1976 BMW 2002 All Restored. THIS RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT NO ROT OR RUST INTERIOR LIKE NEW SPRING IS ARROUND THE CORNER WE EXCEPT ALL TRADES AND ALL MAJOR CREDIT CARDS BUT CASH IS KING!! CALL US AND MAKE AN OFFER.

He's got this $12999 price on it.

Here's the sole pic in the ad:

Okay. But if you write him, all he'll say is, Come in and talk. He doesn't send more pictures, he won't describe the car in any further detail. He won't talk price. He won't do nothing but offer up his stock line of, Come on in and cash is king.

What's the point of this kind of gambit? Just to get you in the door so the Glen Gary Glenn Ross-type closing antics can commence?

On another car, the dealer wrote back and said he wouldn't send pictures and he wouldn't further describe the car, because the car was 35 years old and it wouldn't be fair to the car. WTF?

Another great example of why it's better to buy an 02 from a private owner enthusiast. The Mercury Sable, Chrysler Sebring, Ford Econoline, and boat in the background do not give me a good feeling about the veracity of this guy's claims. Used car lots always seem to think that they have stumbled upon a gold mine when they have an 02 for sale.

Never buy a car from someone who spells "ARROUND" thusly

You should go.

Act stupid on the 02 and see just how bad these dirtbag sales lot guys can be. Check out the nasty/dangerous condition & total bullshit he gives you.

I know a few around here and I don't know how they can sleep at night. Never mind the guilty conscience of suckering someone. I'd be worried about taking a round in the head or my house on fire.

Young grasshopper, you have just learned a valuable lesson. 99% of used car dealers are scum. The sole reason they exist is to make money and at whatever cost. Plus, unless they specialize in older euro cars, they have no clue what they have and price it like it based on the KBB for a mint condition restored example of the car.

The guy sent me some photos. Looks like a lot was spent on undercoating it with spray cans but otherwise it's nice in the pics. Ask if the advertised price includes an extra 0 to really get a positive conversation started.

I am NC but do travel through Boston occasionally for work. If the starting price was about $6500 I would have made an effort to take a look. I do think the owner's perception of this car is much higher than its value. He is more in line with tii pricing for that year model and condition in my opinion.
