Ha ha ha! I just got back into 2002's, and it appears that many of the BMW folks like old VW's as well! I currently have a '63 standard microbus, '60 sliding rag bug, and a '66 bug with 1904cc and dual D'ellorto 40 carbs. Now for a German car with a heater - '73 2002 tii!

Best Regards,

Jeff

Well I guess I make it official - we can call it the VWBMW thang

my first was a 6-volt '66 21 window with sunroof I bought for $150 bucks back in '70 - seeing what values these things restore to puts some tii's to shame.

People just gotta have them I guess

Is fuel efficiency really what we need most desperately? I say what we really need is a car that can be shot when it breaks down.

I guess the German car folks just progress with more...German cars.

My first VW was an Ivory '66 sunroof Beetle with red interior. I purchased it for a grand total of $ 50.00 back in 1982. Rally brand polishing compound did wonders to the original paint job. Too bad the 1300 cc engine was on the ground, left rear axle shaft was bent and the floor pans and heater channels were totally rusted.

Ah the good old days of smelling the nasty gummi-har seat pads.

That's funny you mention the horse hair smell Jim.

All Vee Dubs have that certain smell to them that you could pick out it was a dubber blindfolded.

My Tii has the original horse hair yet the smell is different than all my VW's. I often wondered why VW smells like they do and BMW smells like it does.

One of them must have been purchasing substandard horse's. :}
