Anybody have any personal experience with converting a California gas car that is normally smogged to diesel? I'd like to put a 300 tdi in my Land Rover Discovery I or the drop in Isusu 2.8 tdi and I've heard the deal is you go to a DMV inspector/arbitrator and show them it's a diesel and you change over to a non smog test registration. I would hate to go to the time, trouble, and expense of doing the conversion and find out I can register the vehicle or drive it on the roads/highways. I look at a Land Rover Board but never seem to see any particularly knowledeable posts.
