I am getting a used 2002 tranny to put in my 1600. can i take the forward section of drive shaft from a 2002 4 bolt and cut and weld it to my 1600 3 bolt or is this alot of work and money??

Depends on how early the 2002 transmission is. The earlier ones had the same output flange splines so you could easily swap the flange to the other transmission.

BUT if your 1969 1600 has a flange at the differential instead of a flex disk/guibo like the earlier cars you can just use a regular later '02 driveshaft....
