WTB M10 engine

I am looking for a "running" M10 for my '76 2002 project. I would prefer an original 02 M10 with 121 head, but will consider a good 1.8 from a 320i or early e30 318i (I understand the blocks are of higher quality cast?). I am sticking with carbs so the fuel system is not a major concern.

I will consider buying the whole car if its an 02 or a 320i

Any opinions on which engine (or combinations) to use would be appreciated.

Shipping doesn't matter much, if I can find the right engine.

I know where you can get a good M10 complete with lower subframe assembly. If you are interested, let me know. We can figure out getting it to you - we are in Alpharetta, GA - the motor and goodies are in Cumming.

I have a 76 2002, which is prettry well stripped except for the drivetrain and suspension. I'm chasing a couple guys who may be able to pull together most of the parts I would need to get it back on the road, but the price is starting to look high enough that I will possibly be looking for a low dollar driver instead. Anyway, the car currently has no wiring harness, and is missing the two barrel carb that it came with. I am putting in the distributor, coil, wires, etc and will try to see if she'll fire up (using starting fluil) at least temporarily. If the engine does run, this may be a candidate for your project. I hope to do this in the next couple days.

I have excellent running 1976 engine with Weber 36/36 down draft and TII distributor. It is complete and no smoke or wierd noises.

Car is in New Mexico but I can get engine to Denver for cheap or strap to pallet and ship for you.
