I've seen some parts of interest for sale by 02 specialists in Germany (steering wheel, wheels....). I have not seen these parts here...at least not yet. Any experience from BMW2002FAQ with buying parts from Germany?

I have purchased many parts from Germany. If they take credit cards or PayPal it makes it easier. Some require payment by electronic funds transfer and that can be expensive and a nightmare.

Like plano says, use PayPal if possible, you can do an online bank transfer (using IBAN or SWIFT accounting) but it takes time and usually involves fees. Customer service is generally not recognized in Germany and many sellers try to charge exhorbitant postage fees altho DHL is readily available for shipping to the US. I've been told from several sources that Americans are considered easy targets with deep pockets--of my many transactions with German parts suppliers, I would say that half of them had some sort of complication. Good luck--Jim

The supplier I have in mind is well established and legitimate - but paying involves direct bank transfer (not a problem), three transfer fees to be paid by me (adds to expense!), involving two German banks in different cities.

Have not seen one of these steering wheels in the US, however, so Germany may be the deal.

I have had good luck using the online service Xoom, which has very reasonable service fees. Don't know how a seller can direct routing thru two different banks since the IBAN codes are bank specific (like the routing codes on the bottom of your checks). Good luck.
