I can only tell you that title 9 cut my wrestling in Div1 back in 77. I helped get wrestling started in AR about 4 years ago and we just had a college start the first collegiate program in the state for next year. Wrestling seems to hang on, but it isn't a money maker to pay the football and basketball coaches salaries, that's for sure.

Wrestling was the only sport that pulled some revenue at our school.

I never really knew how bad it was that football and basketball were losing money.

Wrestling was pulled to support title 9 in many schools in the 70s. It was(at that time) a male only sport and the money went to fund female sports programs.

That is what they are trying to claim under this situation, but really it's all politics and the administrators wanting more $$
