first issues with 3hp12....argh !!

Recommended Posts

as the weather here realy reach high 30's (86F), the automatic 02 suffered a bit, the auto box seemed to overheat, at one moment i lost the 3rd gear randomly, or it refused to shift to 3rd or took forever to do so...

oil is toped off and not foaming...time for a 4hp22...

i temporarily poured a Lucas oil stabiliser...

there is always something to do with too many cars...

i've been keeping up with your posts regarding your automatic transmission.

was wondering if perhaps your adjustment of the shifting may have affected its action. as i recall you shimmed some internal orifice or something to adjust the shift RPM.

just supposing. that's all.

not realy, it is realy associated with higher temperatures. there might be a drum that broke or a seal that was already wrong.

as long as i dont abuse it or i dont make it work harder it behaves the same.

i talked with a local transmission guru and he told me probably all the clutches are worn out and dont hold presure enough, once the oil is very hot it gets thiner and the presure drops.

the lucas stuff seemed to work fine at least this morning. i may install the oil cooler too as a preventive fix, i have all the stuff to do it (thanks to Pierre)...
