Sound deadener insulation

Recommended Posts

Hey so my grandma that came from France said she would buy me sound deadener so i can put my carpet in!!!

I was wondering what the cheapest sound deadener available was. Dynamat is fairly expensive and fatmat is too.

Any ideas?

How many square feet of it would I need? I'm planning on doing just where the carpet kit is going to be.

Thanks

One roll of BXT II (37.5 sq ft) will do your whole floor but not under/behind back seat area and you might want to.

One roll of standard BXT will be more than enough for the car (62.5 sq ft).

And that ensolite is a good product, also (the stick on is new and I don't know much about it)

Now that I look at it more, 3-4 running yards of that stick on ensolite could be great. A little more cushion under the carpet and whatever is left over you can put in doors.

I used Raamaudio and was quite happy, price is good too. The owner was great to work with.

go to the building supply section of Home Depot and look for a roll of roofing patch. it's about 12 inches wide with a plastic wrap to keep it from sticking to itself. i believe it's used in the valleys of shingled roofing. it's VERY similar to Dynamat at a fraction of the cost. about $25/roll. i've used it on the floors and back seat area. it's self adhesive too, just leave the plastic film on the outer surface.
