  1. The 320 5spd slave cyl has passageways/drillings that result in the bleeder pointing downwards to be correct. I used to have a cut-away diagram of it.....but.....can't find it. Ok found it; hope it's legible.
  2. It's been on Ebay a few times the past few years. In January (this year) it had a 5 spd. Wonder what the plonker did with the 5 spd.
  3. To the best of my knowledge, '74, '75 & '76 USA '02s did not have any of the weights printed on the VIN plate. Probably due to the added weight (bumpers, add'l strengthening metal) versus the Euro '02s.
  4. Brilliant! Like you, I had not seen that before. Thanks for posting.
  5. Foe event purposes only........honest.
  6. The one I got from them a few weeks ago has "raised" letters etc like the originals. Just ordered another one after realizing my Touring has the same "hood" roundel on the back door.
  7. Check Bavarian Autosport for their original metal hood roundel part 51 14 5 480 181. Cost $26. Don't think they have a trunk metal roundel, just the hood. Fortunately, both hood and trunk roundels are the same on my Touring. http://www.bavauto.com/
  8. Correct. Likewise in the UK (certainly in the '70s). My Nov '73 built Touring languished unsold in a BMW Dealership until finally sold in Sep '74. It was thus "titled" a '74; had it been sold 31 Dec '73, it would have been a '73.
  9. I agree the car I posted probably has the wrong VIN. I collect what the Owner/Seller, etc, put in their message/ad. I have found a few errors/typos over the years. FYI all Turbos were LHD, although there is one in the UK that was converted to RHD. Edit: checked 2002AD and the car is still on their website. The VIN stated is 4209559 so I guessed they has the 0 & 9 switched. https://www.2002ad.com/pages/carsforsale.cfm scroll down 80% the way down the page.
  10. Interesting!!! The pics below are from 2002AD's website back in 2008. The VIN was stated as 4290559. Had moulded flares which (so I'm informed) were factory for the Japan market.
  11. Over the years, I have collected VINs as, basically, a pastime. From Norbert, Jordan Kahrs, and others, I have the following "stated" info on special colour Turbos. I would appreciate knowing any errors and additional info. 4290528 Inka 4290733 Schwarz 4291066 Taiga 4291334 Verona 4291461 Tampico 4291491 Schwarz 4291492 ? special colour 4291566 Pastelblau 4291576 Jadegrün 4291600 ? special colour Also curious to know the VIN of Mr. smonter's Turbo that restarted this thread off again.
  12. I guess I'm the only one that thinks it was sold for at least 3 times its value (if indeed it actually sold for $27k). From the pics it could be a halfway decent repaint (or Maaco?), but the mismatched interior incl a "late" gauge cluster would make me wonder if it was a backstreet resto job. Are those wheels really period correct? Pity the VIN wasn't noted.
  13. Reads like a "dealer" ad. Wouldn't call black arm rests on tan door panels, and mismatched seat and door panel colour "immaculate". Exterior paint looks nice though.
  14. Welcome to the '02 madness. Your car looks more like Jadegrün than Agave. Agave is a darker green, and I think the only greens available in ’76 were Jade and Amazonas. Have fun, you’ll get plenty of looks and thumbs up driving it around town. The ss rocker trim you mention is standard trim. Looks like your car was painted black below the door, and came like that from the factory on with some exterior colours.
  15. Looks suspiciously like the '69 1600 Cabrio that was for sale via 2002AD 4 years ago. Had a "late" front nose and CA tags, als a trap mirror on the DS and a flag mirror on the PS.
  16. Interesting! That's 3 of us with RHD cars with the same "pulling to the right" problem. I had come to the conclusion it was an issue with one of the Servos (only things I have not replaced....yet).
  17. If you'd care to post the VIN here, one of us may well know the car, or have some history of it.
  18. The lenses (glass) are the same, but, being from England, they will throw the dipped light to the left (RHD), whereas in Europe they would need to throw the dipped light to the right (LHD). UK and Euro assemblies will have different part numbers for the same reason.
  19. My amateur Register has info on over 8000 cars with VINs and another 2000+ without VINs. Info on around 10% is from Roundel mags from the '80s & '90s, but occassionally one of these will pop up. Another 10%+ are cars from overseas and some that are destined for the wreckers yard. New, to me, cars show up regularly and I add 20 to 30 cars (VINs)/month. There are a lot out there.
  20. Interesting! My Touring (RHD) has the same problem. The severity of the right front lock up varies; can be quite scary at times. Mine had been in storage in the UK for 10 yrs before I shipped it over here, and on arrival here the problem started. I have replaced everything brake-wise except the twin servos and the hard brake pipes. I have new (refurbished) servos from Jaymic but have not got around to fitting them yet. My assumption (as everything else has been replaced) is, the servos (or one of them) are the problem.
  21. Wish I could make it Randy. I don't get back from Germany until 1st week on Nov. I'll be glad when I retire, then I'll go to as many events as I can......like Skip. I agree this time of the year is great in that neck of the woods. My first Bo event was a fall one; the leaves turning colour was majestic sight.......I could see them out the window of the bar. Have fun, as I'm sure you will.
  22. If you see a green Touring with the steering wheel on the correct (right!) side.....that's me. I'm a few miles south of SAT but often run into town when I'm home. In my 20+ yrs here, I've seen more '02s in the junkyard than on the road.
  23. I took my 140mph speedo from my Touring to Rick Borth many years ago. He was working out the back of his house then. From 20ft away (as I was walking up his drive) he said "that's an 02 speedo you have there". Can't fault him.
  24. It's only taken me X months to find this in the "new" Faq. I'm not good with new things, that's why I collect '02s.
