  1. les i just noticed all the o2's listed in your sig & not a single roundie...when are you going to fix that Esty, The Touring's a roundie. Just the way they came along. In the UK, all I ever owned were round light '02s. Since being in the US, they are all square light cars. I actually prefer the square ones, but with chrome bumpers. Have the bumpers......just can't get around to it.
  2. It was for sale last October; it was only $3800 then!
  3. Bill, get the VIN for me.......please!
  4. Collecting '02 VINs/Info. Currently have 7610. Also, beer sampling.

    SPEED TRAPS

Unless it's changed, NC is not any better. In the 80's I working in Salisbury and the Interstate down to Charlotte was a nightmare. You would get stopped for doing a couple of miles over the speedlimit. I will say I got away with being stopped twice as I was going to the airport to head back to the UK. The accent and showing my airline ticket did the trick.
  6. Jim, It's a hobby! I started with the old Rob Torres' Register about 9-10 yrs ago, when it sorta kinda got abandoned and before Keith K restarted it, thinking it should not go to waste. I've just kept adding to it over the years with info from anywhere I could find.I have a stack of old Roundels and info from the "for sale" pages have been entered. I need to get hold of some Roundels from the 70s (mine start around '82). Les It was for sale in the Roundel Apr '86 in Voorheesville, NY (5k on rblt mtr) Ebay Oct '10 in Starksboro, VT and lastly, Ebay Jan '11 in Wenham, MA. Les - I still don't know how you keep up with these things. Do you have a spreadsheet on a laptop for your travels? When did you start recording this info? Per Sean, it did come from MA.

  8. Ok, finally found the thread about "moulded " flares on Turbos. Scroll down a bit and you'll find the answer I received from "only_topless" who was Ebaying a Turbo at the time. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/component/option,com_forum/Itemid,57/page,viewtopic/t,300614/highlight,turbo+japan/ Appears is wasn't a Japanese thing, but an Owner preference.
  9. Ray, There were undoubtedly a batch of Turbos destined for Japan that had moulded flares. I thought/read(?) that it was to meet Japanese requirements. However, there were Turbos in Japan that had the regular flares. Maybe the difference is original delivery v private import? The little red reflectors were common additions on Jap Turbos, also additional tag lights. This vehicle was indeed ex-Japan - then has been in NSW for a few years before I purchased it recently and had it trucked down to Adelaide, SA. As for the bolt-on flares - AFAIK, these were stock original on the Turbo. Over the years, I have been accumulating a lot of 2002 parts including LSDs, gearboxes, body kits etc. I have some FRP repro flares which give a similar look to what is on my Turbo.
  10. Hmmm beer! Yvonne and I should make it......if I can just get out of this place.
  11. The little red reflectors on the rear are reminiscent of the Turbos that went to Japan.
  12. GB cars have the steering wheel on the right side. Euro cars do not have diving board bumpers or side marker lights. Post the VIN & we'll tell you what it is.
  13. There was a '70 2002ti for sale south of you in Port Elizabeth a couple of years ago. Let us know the VIN to confirm pedigree.
  14. Let me know if pending sale does fall through. Email me through the faq please.
  15. It was designed ~45 years ago before MacDonalds got a franchise over in Europe.
  16. Don't know Ray. I've always tried to stay clear of France. They're called chips in the UK.
  17. You 'mericans. Coupe' (French origin) is what the '02 was called in Europe. It denotes a closed in car with fixed roof believe it or not. A bit like what you call football and what the rest of us call football. Got your email Ray showing the seats........waaay nice. I need to save some money.
  18. Unfortunately around here there's always one.......and there you are.
  19. This may help....or not. http://www.bmw2002faq.com/content/view/46/32/
  20. Hey Pat, Think it was a common thing over in Germany when they ran out of "early" (or late?) nose panels a good few years back. I honestly do not know if the tabs for mounting the grills to were in the same location (late v early) but you could cut the section out and include the two inner tabs each side, per the pics, and at least have then in the right place.
  21. Rob, That speedo is from a later car. Seats look real good. Has it been refurbished?

Rob, Good looking. Good for you. You have let me know the VIN, details etc. lescartwright at juno dot com
  23. I would have thought it was the flasher relay (up under the left hand side of the dash), but then I'm good at getting things wrong.
  24. Get a pair from the UK (RHD), and you'll have the same style both sides. Grace goes with symmetry!
  25. I think the rubber strip on my Touring had a combination. Threaded studs at the ends and an odd few along the length, the rest were clips. However, it was over 20 years ago when I refurbished the Touring, and I have trouble remembering what I did last week now!
