  1. hi beams work fine, passenger side low beam is out..no cracks etc. So these lights have a buld inside I can replace? Nick, just in case, check fuse #9 - it's for the passenger low beam. Sorry about the bad pic, like a few things, parts are starting to fall off the Touring.
  2. On my Touring, the top nut just spins so the "stud" attached to the centre grill is loose. Haven't been able to remove this for years.
  3. 4261525 = E21 320 RHD 1977 3767306 = E21 320i LHD 1976 No guarantee on correctness, but I thinks that's right. This is what shows up if you put the VINs in Maximilian's parts Site decoder.
  4. A little askew! Here's a pic of, what I believe to be, a good one.
  5. Thanks for that Mike. You can learn something new everyday about these cars.
  6. Not sure why he couldn't post the pics from when it was auctioned on Ebay last November. There weren't many, but better than one.
  7. Love the description - not the price. NM/NA etc http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-2002-Tii-Rare-Roundie-Factory-Sunroof-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem2c5a1f9c71QQitemZ190490582129QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks
  8. Hi Ray, how's it going? I may be back in China middle of this year. Jiyuan, wherever that is. My Touring (built Nov '73) came with the middle one. It still works too. Not sure when the one on the right came out. Never saw one like that until I came to the US.
  9. For the 74-76 taillights, the bulb sizes are stamped on the light assembly. Do not be tempted to put in larger wattage bulbs as they can burn through the plastic.
  10. As your car was built in the middle of '73, I would have thought the gas cap shown in the middle of my pic would have been period correct for your car. I thought the one on the left was for real early, like pre-'71?
  11. No, I guess pre-68 there was no full-year stamp like that. Probably because the true "US spec" cars did not come until 68. Pre-68's only had a MPH speedo to differentiate them from the Euro versions. Everything else was the same as Euro, even the stickers were all in German. I believe only US spec 1968 1600-2s & 2002s have the year stamped on the VIN. 1967 and 1969 & later did not.
  12. Here's the pages for my Touring. The colours used should be the same for all models, and (at least for the Touring wiring) the combinations etc. The wire gauge is shown also...ie 0.75 BR-SW. I assume it's a German wire standard. Hopefully, the pics should enlarge enough to read them.
  13. Check out the following UK '02 Forum, and post a wanted ad for a 140mph speedo. www.02forum.co.uk/
  14. Correct! However, my UK (RHD) Touring came with one too.
  15. The twin headlight set up on my old parts Touring (pic in above post) had the bucket supports cut out. Did not look very professional at all. But someone told me a while back they had a set up that did not require cutting........I did find that hard to believe though. I still have the buckets from that Touring, which I think were CS/S type, and have compared them to E30 buckets and there's very little difference other than mounting brackets/tabs.
  16. Last year I had the cracked windscreen on the Beater removed, one taken off the parts car and put on the Beater for $100 (incl tip). The guy took about an hour but that included chatting about my 02 collection! San Antonio prices may differ from Dallas?
  17. I supervise the installation/commissioning of Steel/Aluminum Rolling Mills, Galvanising, Paint & Pickle Lines and Rod and Bar Mills. Unless you have a wander lust, or you like India & the East, don't pick this profession.
  18. I thinks that's correct also; with the addition of the extra outer bracket. Recently an 02er Ebayed a twin headlight set and I tried to get him to send me the measurements of that bracket. Fot whatever reason he wouldn't do it. There's always a bad apple!
  19. They look a lot better on "late" cars than the early ones I think. I sold the ones from my one-time parts Touring (see pic) and bought a later pair (still need to fit). The parts Touring had the original headlight buckets cut out to get room for the twin buckets, but, I understand, it can be done without cutting anything if you have the original Hella (or Bosch) twin buckets, although I'm not sure how. If you have pics of what you had to cut, I'd appreciate a copy. lescartwright at juno.com
  20. It wasn't "some magazine" it was the BMW NA Car Club magazine - Roundel. You have noticed that the odo only has 5 numbers? If it's still working then maybe it's gone around once to 178k. 50k in 19 years is pretty good.
  21. Probably not showing 125k now, the ad was 19 years ago. Good luck with the sale.
  22. FYI It was for sale in the March '92 Roundel in Jacksonville, FL. Stated 125k with 20k on rebuilt motor.
  23. Earl, I guess I did miss your point. I assume you are thinking of driving non-stop, then yes, you could drive further on a US Interstate than a German autobahn if you could keep awake. However, even in the early '70s it was possible, if you include other Countries in Europe to drive more than enough for a day on Interstate type roads. Mind you, I often got held up on the autobahns with an American Army convoy (hehe), usually around Frankfurt. My point was that the '02 was built to cruise the autobahns at speed, (as well as go around corners), for long periods at high revs with a 4 spd box.
