  1. Hmmm. My BMW 2002 Glovebox Handbook states cruising speed a couple of mph less than max mph. The car was designed to cruise and cruise fast. I drove my first of many '02s up & down the "autobahns" in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy in the early '70s and to keep up with the traffic flow 4500rpm was a minimum. In those days I never thought the car was loud. My 4spd Touring quiets down at around 80mph (4k rpm) For some reason the Touring get's better gas mileage than my 5spd Beater.
  2. Looks like #6 on the link in the above post.
  3. Agree with Bill; very much a black art. The pic (attached) shows the fuse sticker for a '72. If you had a Euro car, #12 fuse would have been 16A.
  4. To the right of the fuse box in the area where the Wiper motor is.
  5. Honestly cannot remember if there was picture. Most ad pics in those days were the size of a postage stamp.
  6. FYI Brandon (see above "sticky") provides this service also.
  7. That car (1570677) was for sale in the April '94 BMW Roundel mag. It was in Santa Barbara, CA, and quoted as having a 2ltr mtr, 5speed, LSD & big brakes.
  8. It's been on Ebay several times this past year. Never met the reserve. This time it will sell..........probably.
  9. I bought one (Bandai, I think) in a hobby shop in Australia about 20 years ago. It was about $15.
  10. This German Co is making repo Cosmics for Porsches reportedly for 1200 Euro ($1500)/set. http://www.jj-vintage.de/felgen
  11. Me too,, but the earlier version. Finding the correct centres is a bugger!

    Merry Christmas!

Nice one John. I managed to get home for Christmas & New Year. No curries for two weeks! Merry Christmas.
  13. As you're going the Euro route, loose the rear over-riders and use the bumper joiners. Square light euro '02s rarely had rear over-riders and favoured the cleaner look.
  14. It was for sale in the October 2001 Roundel by Danny ? in SC.
  15. 1502365 (Chamonix) was on Ebay Germany in 2005. It was a rolling shell. The "Baby Blue" Canadian car is VIN 1503025.
  16. I had always thought my '76 Beater (Flat Black/White) was originally Verona. Mr. Harz informed me it was Pastelblau. When I was putting in a new carpet the inside colour was a pale blue but I had thought that was probably a base colour. Now I know different. Whoever painted it Verona did a good job.
  17. FYI There are different styles of Euro headlight assys, in the way the reflector attaches to the bucket. I know of at least 3. If you're looking for the buckets to match reflectors you already have.....beware.
  18. From the BMW Blue Parts Book:- Trunk carpets for the 2002 Cabrio in grey, bronze, black, blue and tan. The Turbo had one. Euro 2002s had a trunk carpet offered (colour grey?) part# 51 47 1 836 576. Parts book does not show one for US 2002s
  19. As Mike said, "hoch" is hi and the other is "tief" for low. They are great sounding when they both work, but when one dies it's an awful noise.
  20. Don't ask me why I remember that Johnny Cash song "One piece at a time". About 10 years ago, I visited a customer near Charlottesville, VA who made compact discs and the jewell boxes. Even though I was a vendor and had an appointment, I was not allowed past the lobby because my contact was on vacation. While waiting to speak to another employee, I witnessed another employee getting frisked before they took a smoke break - turns out that was their standard procedure for all factory workers to ensure no stealing took place. I thought that was mighty odd. 30 years back I was working at the Royal Mint, Wales, UK, putting in a Slab Milling Line. Their security included X-ray scanners at the exit. It cost me a fortune, as I would often dash in, in the morning half asleep, only to realise I had pocket full of change. I was not getting back out with it! They had lockers where you could put your coins in on the way in, but mostly, even after being there several months, I would forget.
  21. Shift knobs and key blanks are one thing, but to smuggle out seats!! Doesn't say much for BMW's security outfit.
  22. Info that I have shows Euro LHD tiis were made up to June '75. RHD tiis up to October '75.
  23. 1560035 was for sale on Roadfly Sep '06. It was in Canada.
