  1. Fighting talk? Rather juvenile in respect to Al's message.
  2. Hehe. http://cgi.ebay.com/BMW-1600-Touring-Model-Car-/190467260007?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c58bbbe67
  3. My Dad was in Singapore when the Japanese came visiting. He was marched up through/across Thailand, Burma etc and ended up in Japan as a FEPOW. The US repatriated him after the bombs dropped. In the UK (and Europe) Nov 11th is celebrated as Armistice Day/Remembrance Day observing the end of WW1, a 2 minute silence at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
  4. It was Aug last year. Seller was "only_topless", who has listed '02s a few times on Ebay. I have not seen the Touring tii reappear.
  5. Good job John. Doesn't look that bad. Appears not to have been messed with, except the shock tower patch. Coming from the UK, I think the rust is acceptable. Hey, my Beater's worse than that. Good that it's not closer to me.
  6. I like the way the angle grinders, sawsalls etc come with a spare set of brushes. These Chinese are clever. Had the same shovel for 10 yrs now, had to replace the handle 3 times and once the shovel end. HeHe!
  7. Not sure they do. These are produced in the UK, no doubt though, with permission from München.
  8. Jim's post to Harry (a little below this) reminded me of a BMW ad that appeared in the UK on April Fools Day back in the 80s. A little googling and I found these. http://www.bmweducation.co.uk/coFacts/view.asp?docID=49 Still haven't found the one I wanted, but these are pretty good.
  9. That reminds me of an ad by BMW in the UKs Daily Telegraph back in the 80s. It was offering a quick-change dashboard for the UK RHD drivers who frequently drove their car over to Europe. They could quickly switch to LHD. Very convincing ad indeed. It was, however, April 1st. Apparently BMW Dealers were swamped with calls for this latest inovation!
  10. This car was on Ebay 6 yrs ago. It was auctioned by BMW of Darien, CT. Ask our very own CD (Creighton Demarest) about it. HTH
  11. If Ray's VA link doesn't work for you. Try www.speedometer.com in Austin, TX. That's only half way across Country. Owner Rick Borth repaired mine a few years back and I'm happy with the work. Cost was less the NHS at the time. He worked out of his house then but has now moved into bigger premises. HTH
  12. Is that Mintgrün or Taiga? Go take a look John.
  13. I guess Terry Sayther if you're in Austin. http://www.terrysaytherauto.com/Home.htm
  14. The plaid pattern seats are typical of the Cabrios & Targas, although I thought they were not introduced until later - maybe '71 on.
  15. Cool, the Blue '02 on one of the covers has the tag from my hometown - Bournemouth, UK. I'll have to get that.
  16. Last US '76 with manual 2745584 made up to 7/'76 Last US '76 with auto 2393292 made also up to 7/'76 And, an electric sunroof (from the factory) very rare.
  17. The Seller's name was Tony (no family name) and the tel # listed was 516-775-7305. Be real neat if this gets a result. Les
  18. You have no idea how long........I'm in India! I'll email my Wife to get out the Nov '88 Roundel. The Seller's tel phone # was probably listed, but after 22 yrs........! I'll get back to you soonest. Watch this space.
  19. Alex and Guy: Well done Mike. I think there's a few people in the UK that would like to try (and succeed) what Guy tried again. Maybe even a few over here.
  20. Max, The Nov '88 listing in the Roundel stated it had 40k on a rebuilt motor, had upgraded suspension (shocks/springs), sunroof and had been repainted. HTH
  21. Broke my leg in India so had to miss the event earlier this year. I recovered in time for them to send me back to India so I could miss the fall run, and it's on Guy Fawkes weekend too. I'll get with guys one of these days. Have a great time.......I know you will.
  22. No answer, however, 2782928 was for sale in the Nov '88 Roundel. It was stated as Sienabraun with Tan interior and was in New York, NY.
  23. Oh, a Northerner (hehe). Worked here throughout the "80s (living in the UK), then moved here. Then the Co sent me everywhere but the US then. Currently in India....thank goodness for the Internet. I'll get the Touring out to the west coast one of these days. Cheers.
  24. Steve, Where were from in the UK. I'm from West Moors, Darrrrset.
  25. i believe the purpose of the thinker spacer is to help keep the carb & fuel cool...you want to keep the fuel as cool as possible For some reason, my Touring (which came with me from the uk) does not like the pheonolic (sp?) spacer. All my other '02s (US cars) do. Go figure.
