  1. Squarelight cars, with 'Euro' bumpers, look so much better without the rear overriders. Good job.
  2. And, this is why the clever ones do not call '02s E10s?
  3. Exactly what Jim wrote. A Euro 1972 tii would have VIN 270XXXX or 271XXXX. But the real clue is the invoice (pic below) - if you google San Juan Hill, Heidelberg, you will see it was US Military housing complex back then, thus the Owner was no doubt a military serviceman.
  4. In the UK if you passed your test in an auto, then your driving licence only allowed you to drive an auto car. If you passed in a manual box car, your licence would allow you to drive either. We have 3 manual vehicles and 2 autos. If I drive one of the autos I have trouble keeping awake!
  5. Those are the (probably) aftermarket twin 5 1/4" headlight grills; Diana had, I believe, twin 7" headlights. Anyway, your pic of the headlights makes the light on the right look larger diameter than the left one.....is that correct or just the pic angle? A few years ago, these would go for around $400-$500 at most, and that included the correct twin headlight buckets and not the E9 or later E30 ones, that supposedly could be used. You need to take a pic of the headlight/bucket on its side to see if it's correct. Unfortunately, pretty sure you have to cut part of the support away for the original headlight bucket; this makes returning it to original somewhat tricky.
  6. As noted above, there is a very nice 1973 Touring 2002tii on BAT. Will be pricey. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-bmw-2002tii-touring-3/ Then there is this one, 1974 Touring 2002, on Ebay. Was on BAT a few months ago, but apparently never left Texas after being won. This one needs a real good PPI before shelling out the money (IMHO). https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1974-bmw-2002-101/ https://www.ebay.com/itm/275411220637
  7. Owners are putting 3rd brake lights on, changing rear bulbs to LED and forgetting the front. The 'Euro Flat' blinkers are not that easy to see by approaching vehicles. Stand 50 odd yards in front of your '02 with a 'Euro' blinker flashing as if at a road junction. Even at night they're not that brilliant. The bulge type helps a great deal.
  8. Sport Paket - as noted above, front seats, fancy steering wheel, alloy wheels, and, not widely know, bulbous front blinkers. Not sure why this is dificult for some to understand. Unlike the USA, in Europe (UK at least) a car sold/registered in 1973 was Titled as a 1973 even if it was sold/registered in Dec 1973. If it languished in the Dealership until the following year before being sold/1st registered then it would be Titled as a 1974. However, those in the know would 'name' it after it's manufacture date.
  9. Here's your pics so we can see.........
  10. You really need to learn to use the SEARCH feature. Showing results for 'esty carpet'. - BMW 2002 FAQ
  11. If you want original front flashers for a 1969 '02, then, I believe, they should be the flat/Euro style like the pic below, not the later bulbous style. If i'm wrong someone please chime in.
  12. Are those original E10 hex hd screws holding it together?
  13. I thought Baur built the full cabrio bodies for BMW as well as the Targas.
  14. You need to throw out a link for us. Last I heard was this.... https://www.mecum.com/lots/CT1021-483392/1972-bmw-2002-touring/?fbclid=IwAR3LQPOQoUFvgCKH3JBcKwcnzD_Wgv7y-JAAiqypyvo2hlmgj3Jiu7eslNg FWY VIN is 3355828

Guess you missed out on a sense of humour also. Have a real nice day.
  16. Please note the pdf below. It is a 1989 document by BMW North America noting an update to the Vehicle Identification Manual. It was a 48 page doc, but shortened it include only 1966-1976 info. You will note that nowhere is E10 mentioned. Also attached a few pics. From 1971(?) to 1973 an E-Code sticker (my name for it) was placed on Euro '02s, usually above the VIN plate. All '02 variants had this and it noted TYP 114 on all, the exception being the Touring which showed E6. In 1974 the stickers did not show 114 but noted the car model, Cabrio, 2002tii, Turbo etc. None of these stickers showed E10. As noted by Andrew above, we have no genuine BMW documentation showing the use of E10, and, BMW Archiv personnel have stated BMW never used that number. I seem to remember E10 popping up in the early 2000s, usually on a German BMW '02 'site' I was looking at. Unfortunately, this E10 myth has gone on too long now; the young '02ers have taken it on and, well, that is that I guess! Scan_0016.pdf

Ever thought of using spellcheck? GLWTS
  18. They have been trying to sell the car for months, so, when all else fails, BAT. FWIW - The newly rebuilt motor is 4291402.
  19. I remember that car. It was owned by Mike Kuhn, Dallas, TX. I met him at a Dallas event in 2005 & I think he sold the car shortly after. I believe Peter Slishkovich was a previous Owner.
  20. Re; Tool set. Looks like you're missing the 13 - 14 open ended spanner/wrench.
  21. Like Steve T's, pretty much everything behind the grills & part headlight support. My old '76 Sahara
  22. Part # 51 11 1 815 611 (M6) is used for the last hole on each side/corner bumper, AND, if you have side bumpers with all holes and no slots, then use same part for all the holes. Item 22 on below pic., alongwith washers & nuts items 3 & 4
  23. https://www.copart.com/lot/52640792/clean-title-1973-bmw-2002-mi-flint Maybe worthwhile for someone near Flint, MI, to go take a look. 25 years ago this car was for sale in the BMW Roundel Magazine. Stated then to have 2 x 40DCOEs (can be seen in pics), 5 spd and an LSD. Not stated now if it runs.
  24. As it reportedly sold for $154k a little ove a year ago, (not sure if that includes the normal auction mark-ups), I guess we know the ballpark figure the Seller is looking for. I wonder if this car was ridden hard & put up wet in its past. Supposedly 60k miles and needed an engine rebuild, front fenders and maybe the nose replaced. Hmmm! 1974 BMW 2002 Turbo VIN: 4290443 - CLASSIC.COM
