  1. The serial # stamped on the block (2573494) near the starter motor, would have matched the VIN of the car it was put in originally, and that would have been a mid '71 2002. HTH
  2. Hope your "new" one is ok. If you want to have your original repaired, I can recommend Rick Borth at speedometer.com. He repaired my original Touring 0-140mph speedo a couple of years ago. www.speedometer.com
  3. Good luck with the sale Pat. Wish I had the extra $$$.
  4. Wow, an uber rare towing hitch. Gotta be worth it (lol).
  5. Good point. The previous owner removed the gutter strips and repainted. Next time I'm home I'll take a look see. Wishful thinking for us to get rain in south central Texas, so I should be ok for a while (LOL).
  6. Here's mine. I don't tnink it's that noticeable that it's missing, as long as the paint is shiny.
  7. According to parts manual, it is M24 x 1,5. ie fine thread, not standard for M24.
  8. Ok, I can do that. I'll nominate my Beater. Actually ex Rob Delk's Beater. It's nothing special except to me. Rob had been trying to sell it with little repsonse while I was (as usual) working in China. I came back a while later (Jul '08) for r & r and found it behind the garage. It was a Father's day gift from Yvonne. Fast forward to May '09 and i'm finished in China (so I thought) and V@V was just around the corner. So........ok we'll go and take the Touring & the Beater. Yvonne drove the Beater all the way out there, and then we swapped cars and I drove the Beater back. With excursions at V@V it was a 3000 mile trip, and both cars never missed a beat. The fact that is was parked next to Blunt's car at V@V is reason alone to vote it COTM. This car proves that they were built to be driven and, to be driven anywhere.
  9. Wonder what the original colour was. The harness in the trunk has turned red. Typical asking price these days for a 74tii. What he gets is a different story.
  10. Good for you. I remember taking my first ('71) '02 all over Europe in the '70s. When were the black/silver licence plates made legal in the UK? I had them on my Touring (N) until I got stopped by Mr. Plod and told no later than an L plate was legal.
  11. Didn't think it was possible to get a rust free Lancia until the late '80s.
  12. Is it just sunroof cars that are prone to this, or are non-sunroof cars getting this also? I'm somewhat gun-shy to replace the headliner in my Blue car now. Not sure I want to know what's lurking under the liner.
  13. It's my parts car Esty so it's not important, but still a surprise. I was thinking of keeping the roof if I (or someone) wanted to convert to a sunroof car later. I'll treat it if I decide to keep it.
  14. Took out the side rear windows and seals and found a heap of flaky stuff hiding underneath. Removing the C-pillar liner revealed a whole lot more. After removing the headliner the reason was evident. Roof rusting from the inside out!
  15. Forgive me. I was suggesting that that wrong place for billet mirrors was on a Scion. Yes, I agree. From a safety point of view, they allow the driver to keep his eye on the road ahead better, particularly the passenger side. Of course, you do need 20/20 vision to even see the mirrors, let alone what is in them.
  16. Known in the UK as "Wing Mirrors" as they are fitted on top of the wings (fenders). Very common in times gone by.
  17. The Euro side/parking light bulb in the headlight is 5W.
  18. I have this pic. If you look real close at the wiper position relative to the hood grill...............it's not an '02 he's sitting on. Maybe a Neue Klasse 4 door?
  19. Yes, thanks Bill, and not forgetting Scott for the event.. Still can't believe we did the 3000 mile roundtrip trouble free with both cars. A trip and an event I will never forget.
  20. I was amazed how cheap (compared to yrs gone by) they are now. I was looking for rebuild kits and Weberdirect has them for $15 and everywhere else was nearly double that. A sign of the times?
