  1. Nice one. Quick shipping doesn't come close to describing W & N. Ordered a pair of struts Sunday (email) and had them in my hand Tuesday afternoon (wasn't cheap, but still). Several years ago I ordered a complete front nose panel for my Touring from them. Ordered by phone Monday and the package was delivered Thursday. I cannot fault them.
  2. Try here - 32/36 DGAV = $14.98 (about as cheap as I could find) http://www.webercarbsdirect.com/32_36_DGAV_EV_Repair_kits_and_parts_s/50.htm
  3. Actually, they are really parking lights. Most Euro Countries stipulated that if you left your car in the road overnight, you must have a front & back light on (ones nearest the centre of the road). Euro 02s were designed for this, by having the little bulb in the headlight and the extra wiring from the indicator switch (US cars, at least my '76s, do not have this feature). If you leave the indicator to the left & switch off the ignition, front "parking" light & rear taillight will come on & vice versa if your indicate to the right. Of course, if you were driving in a French City, you had to turn your yellow headlights off, and just run the "parking/city" lights. Typical of the French to be different!
  4. This '74 520i I once owned had an orange lit gauge cluster.
  5. That's the way I called them until I came to the US and was outnumbered.
  6. Me too. Pity we can't have the "stick on" type that used to be legal in the UK.
  7. Ha. Yes i've seen a few pics of your car. Beware the hatch shocks though; mine gave out pretty much overnight. No warning, and I was straddled in the trunk at the time. Not a pretty sight!
  8. Walloth & Nesch (Germany) has the hatch door Gas Openers on special for Euro 35. That's approx $50 each, and a heck of a lot less than I paid a couple of years ago. The price includes German VAT (which should be deducted) but not shipping. http://www.wallothnesch.com/e/ws/wsframe2.htm
  9. Without a doubt, Fernando Vargas' sticker placement sketch is right on the money for a squarelight Euro car (Sept '73 on), plus his notes about the colour sticker replacing the EC sticker above the VIN plate. For a '72 forget the orange Achtung sticker, that also appeared late '73. FYI - the coolant and battery stickers often swapped positions.
  10. It's been triple digits here for the past 4~5 days, but I still drive the '02. Just wind down the windows and go.
  11. Paul, I have a 4 page sheet entitled "Survey of BMW Chassis Numbers". Cannot remember where I got it from now. VIN 1160001 to 1160552 USA model 2000 automatic. I have a habit of saving things for just this sort of occasion (LOL). Cheers.
  12. As I noted on your later post above, I believe this VIN is a '69 2000 4 door sedan.
  13. Paul, VIN 1160190, I believe, is for a '69 2000 4 door sedan.
  14. That's autocross as I remember it (i'm also a Brit). Way back in the '70s the Cortinas, Capris etc, would dice it out with an occasional '02. Classic racing. The guy in the Mini must have done that course before!!! Cheers.
  15. Thanks Curt. I appreciate the info. I have left well alone and put the cluster back as it was.
  16. Is your car an auto? That might narrow the search. The earlier clusters have the provision (3 holes) for this terminal, so I can only think it's for some models and not required on others.
  17. Bring it on down to San Antonio - my place has passed my RHD Touring for the past 9 years and still hasn't noticed the headlights dip to the left!
  18. Looking at it closer - it's connected to the circuit board and appears to go to/from the BIG RED light for the brake level - handbrake. Curious. I decided not to connect anything to it in case something went poof! I looked at Keith Kreeger's "site" at the gauge rehab, and his gauge had this connection also. I have several gauge clusters and the one with this connection is dated 3/75, some without it are 11/73 and 10/75, so it seems it is for a special purpose. I love a mystery!
  19. Anyone know (for sure) what the spade-terminal on the back of the temp/fuel gauge, shown in the pics, is for? I thought about adding an earth lead, but then noticed it has an electrical "thingie" attached on the inside. It is on a '75 cluster, but not on a '73 cluster (just the 3 holes)
  20. Not normally, but most of the 1400 miles back from V@V.
  21. The 2000 Touring tii appeared in January '71, the sedan 2002tii appeared a little later in April '71. The Touring 2000tii was offered with a "sport paket" which, amongst other things, included the alloy wheels you pictured. These wheels were available as an option for any '02 model and could be ordered as such. They should really be called Touring tii alloys IMHO!!!
  22. Bimmerbros (2000m5)(San Mateo, CA) sold it on Ebay in Feb '06.
  23. I got them on Ebay. They were like $28/set with shipping. Very easy to apply, and they fit real well. Pity I forgot to paint the gas & water temp needles black before I put the cluster back in. I just brush painted over the faux wood - it's Da Beater, it's ok! Check their website - www.whitegauges.net I would recommend them to anyone.
  24. And you didn’t think a small ball of gum and a quarter stuck over it would make it go away? Even some black tape? Oh well, hind sight is 20/20 (with intermittent flashes of red..ha ha ha). Beaner7102 The flashing red light helped me keep awake!
  25. If you mean this red light (see pic) it's Brake Fluid level, Choke out or (as in my case) hand brake switch not adjusted correctly. It blinked at me for all the 1300 miles back from V@V. I can still see it when I close my eyes!!!!
