  1. Mike, Likewise - real good to finally meet up with you. Pittsburgh eh? Heck it's only a 100 miles further than the NC trip! As we Brits say - it's a doddle. Cheers.
  2. It was great meeting up with you again Skip, and to meet Greg who looks like he's going to be a real enthusiast too. California eh? I'm game if my work doesn't have me in some other part of the World. Cheers.
  3. Need to give our thanks to Scott & Patti for an amazing event. It was one long drive, but thoroughly worth every mile. Great to meet people for the first time and meet up with "old Friends". The wings-pizza-beer party on Sat night was blast. We took it easy on the way back with two overnight stops and rolled into San Antonio late afternoon yesterday (Tues). Last Wednesday, when we started out, I wasn't sure Da Beater would make the end of our street, but it, and the Touring never missed a beat. So........where to next? Les & Yvonne Cartwright
  4. Yes, well done Sam. Parking next to my tired Touring could have helped (lol).
  5. I was there Sun night! If you keep following me all the way to San Antonio, let me know (HA).
  6. It's a loooong drive Jason. This may be my one & only, so I'm going to make the most of it. So many people to meet, so many cars to look at. It's going to be a blast. The only problem is we have the loooong drive back!
  7. Rob, Thought you would like to know the Beater made it all the way to NC for Vintage at the Vineyard. Never missed a beat. Not good gas mileage, but no problems.
  8. Got in to the "other" Hampton (Mt. Airy) around 8:30pm tonight. Phew, what a drive. The Beater made it without a hitch as did the Touring.
  9. I have. Let me know if you still need. lescartwright@juno.com
  10. Twin Horns were available from the parts book. Fiamm were 510 & 410Hz, Hella were 400 & 335Hz and Bosch 420 & 335Hz. The Hella & Bosch are still available at like $50 each.
  11. I've got several of these flasher units (incl what I assume is an original in an aluminum case). I've never tried to take one apart; perhaps now's the time. THX
  12. Well done Tim. Why is it I always forget to look for the obvious? Must have had a blonde (silver now!) moment. Thank goodness for parts cars. It's been a while Tim, hope you are well.
  13. Trying to get the Beater at least looking the part for the haul to V@V. The green blinker light on the dash stays on all the time. The indicator lights all work fine (well, pretty good) and i've replaced the stalk/switch - green light still on all the time. (It get's brighter as I rev the motor - maybe another problem lurking?) Any clues?
  14. Oops! I must remember belt is above the knee!! Well, if anyone wants to know how many "knee" clips......
  15. Both taken in Mons, Belgium, in 1978. The '72 Touring 2000tii replaced the badly crunched Taiga '73.
  16. Sorry Mike, but 155xxxx 1600's are Voll Cabriolets. As far as I have seen, '66-67 1600 production went only as far as 153xxxx then the '68 US cars were 156xxxx. I have seen that there are 154xxxx 1600-2s but never in the US as US bound cars. Yes the 150xxxx cars have a few very unusual detail differences, as well as the different "6 Volt" nose panels for all of the early 6 volt cars up to the end if '67 production. My 1508028 Bristol late '66 production car has all of these early details. The differences between '67 US bound cars and rest of world 1600-2s were the sealed beam headlight buckets, US English speaking gauges. Mid 153 production the bumpers lost the license lights, lost the early skinny five slat kidney grille gaining the four slat one, gained the optional in Europe over riders and a few other minor differences. My 1530962 Granada car had the US tail panel license lights and over rider bumpers originally, it also had a factory installed US Blaupunkt Frankfurt US AM FM SW radio, and had the four slat grille. I have seen earlier US bound 153 cars that still had all the euro bumpers, the wide euro rear license plate holder and five slat grille. Very early '68 production 156 cars still had the remote booster brakes as well as the chrome trimmed dashes and the badge above the taillight as earlier cars but gained many later details such as the later door latches as evidenced by my friends 1560847 Manila car. HTH and Cheers, You should know better than to challenge Mike (lol). 1500001-1550000 prod '66.3 - '68.2 - Euro 1600-2 1850001-1900000 prod '68.2 - '70.6 - Euro 1600-2 2650001-2676591 prod '70.6 - '71.3 - Euro 1600-2 1550001-1553252 prod '67.4 - '71.3 - Euro (RHD) 1600-2 1560001-1572930 prod '67.8 - '71.3 - USA 1600-2 1557001-1558682 prod '67.9 - '71.6 - Cabriolet 1600-2 HTH
  17. RHD cars only came with the armrests like yours. The flat ones were on the drivers side of LHD cars.
  18. That would be a USA 2002, model year 1968.
  19. According to the BMW Parts Manual. Brake Light & Turn Signal = 21w Tail Light can be either 5w or 10w Reversing Light can be either 15w or 21w
  20. All the best Paul. As you've have had one '02 or another since '78 you'll be back. Les
  21. Webasto roofs were an aftermarket fitment.
  22. Can't make Bo's event, I will still be in China. This contract should have been completed a year ago, but here I still am, and keeping my fingers crossed I can get away for the V@V. I'm looking forward to the challenge; whilst I have no fear for the Touring, it might be a "white-knuckle" drive in the Beater. I will perhaps takes Skip's advice and join their caravan (Skip will know where to refit all the parts that fall off!). And, as mentioned in my post above, looking forward to meeting with a lot of people i've communicated with, some over a good few years, but never met in person. All the best, Les
