  1. Hi JD, Bit late here, the Owner of 1690976 was Vince Strazzabosco (IL) in July 2004. According to his current FB page he is friends with Harv & Harry, both 2002 aficionados', so a good chance this is the same Vince. Perhaps a message to him may be fruitful. https://www.facebook.com/vstrazzabosco HTH

Car obviously neither manufactured nor sold in 1970. How difficult can it be to fill in a handful of info????
  3. I had not heard the term 'bimmer' until I came to the US. In the UK (back in the '70s at least) all BMWs (bikes/cars) were 'beemers'.
  4. Not sure how I missed this topic. Any road up..........I had several Sunbeam Rapiers prior to the '02. A series II, a series III convertible and lastly a series IV. This last one was an odd ball for sure; it was series IV badged but had the series V 1725 motor. I would visit Rootes for parts and they said my chassis number didn't exist in their system. Eventually I found out that Sunbeam had taken a few series IV cars at the end of production and basically made them series V with a special chassis number. There were a little over 300 cars like that. This last one took me (for work) all over Germany/Austria where I would get overtaken on the autobahn by these little BMWs. Naturally, I bought an '02 in Germany and sold the Sunbeam. Pic is not of mine, but is same model/colour.
  5. Shame! You should have redone & kept the original seats with their corduroy inserts. Warm in the winter to sit on and cool in the summer months, not to mention somewhat rare. The rear seat didn't come out of a Touring.
  6. Post the VIN &/or licence tag. There's a slim chance we may know the car.
  7. There's something to be said about the original bulbs!! As Esty said, the screws that hold the lamp assy to the bumper act as ground/earth. Power from 'green-red' wire in the trunk that lit up your USA lights before.
  8. A dozen years ago I rehabbed the suspension on my former '76. It had the skinny version and I changed them out for a pair of sturdier ones I had removed from a '76 parts car. If they were phased out '69/'70 then I guess a PO put these on. They did, however, look like they had been on there forever.
  9. Any chance you could post pics that we can open (.JPG for instance) before your Monday deadline?
  10. Going by the VIN (even if too many digits) it is a 1600-2.
  11. Steve, Still getting the 'error' with the Best 2002 Pic gone.
  12. As noted on the box, P30-0023 is HD Sports would be P30-0025
  13. For sure it's starting to get tiresome. Seemed to have started (for me) around the same time as the 'Best 2002 pic' contest. No clue if that's valid or just coincidental.
  14. #13 is for the '02 Cabriolet only, and as stated above, you need the other parts.
  15. Either of the two pages, https://www.wallothnesch.com/en/fahrzeugelektrik/bmw-1502-2002-turbo/katalogbild-61-16.html https://www.wallothnesch.com/en/fahrzeugelektrik/bmw-1502-2002-turbo/katalogbild-61-17.html
  16. Hoffman's Import doc shows it had a sunroof; Did you remove it?
  17. BMW stopped production of the 2002ti in April 1971, so, as this is (stated) a '72 model, I'm guessing it's a 2002ti clone.
  18. Always check the 'For Sale' board.
  19. Still here, as of 2 mins ago.. https://www.automotiverestorations.com/1973-bmw-2002tii

  21. I guess I lost the plot here. If you're putting them on a US delivery '02 that never had them in the first place, what's wrong with using the reproductions??
  22. There's a few 'characters', like Otis, that have disappeared over the years. Times are changing.
