Thanks Steve
So, even though the VINs on the early cars were mixed in with the Euro car VINs, those that were destined for the US direct from the factory had differences.
Thus, there was a US spec Euro car then ?
I am curious if the early "Euros" that were delivered new to the US had the Euro headlights with the side/city light feature and the "flat" blinker lights that only blinked (no running light).

Car was for sale in the Oct 2002 Roundel magazine & was in NJ.
Stated as White with Black interior & 318i FI on tii block, 5 spd, LSD & upgr susp.
It appears a replacement nose panel had been fitted (current Seller had the snorkel removed). The trunk area needed some attention but did look to be Malaga, which is more than can be said for the repainted colour.
this is a fleeting opportunity to obtain a un-touched version
The car is very original and completely stock.
Here's a couple of pics when it was for sale 2 years ago.
From what I remember, there was no mention of carbs, and, unfortunately, I have no pictures. Still, it does sound like a decent price; unusual these days (unless it's actually riddled with rust).
From VIN (2365750)
"running - Chamonix/Blue 121k on chassis, 40k on Korman st2 motor, Turbo flares, upgrades"
Was for sale by Jeff Ladner from Nov '95 to May '96
FYI
Jaymic (UK) has the reman Servo/Booster for around $340 + shipping. Which is a good $100 less than a few years ago when I bought two for my Touring.
It's on Ebay for the umpteenth time. IMO he needs to sort out the interior for that kind of coin.

Another possible reason (if your thermostat is ok)...............I had a similar problem years ago. A hefty thump on top of the dash/gauge cluster & it dropped to show the correct temp. Next bump & back it went up into the red. Putting the famous earth lead directly onto the back of the gauge cluster fixed it.
