  1. Remove broken bolt(s) and run a tap down all the threads for a start. Then see what you're up against, if anything.
  2. Interesting driver side rear shock tower repair.
  3. Steve, Cars exist in those VIN ranges. It's ironic that Messrs. Taylor & Macartney would miss some of the RHD models.
  4. Mr. Taylor's QC is about equal to the Chinese. IE, In his book, the first section is 2002 RHD & several VIN ranges are missing...….should read as follows pre 71 1650001 - 1653979 3979 model 71 1654980 - 1660000 6021 2550001 - 2551473 1473 model 73 4200001 - 4203228 3228 total 14,701 & not 9,701
  5. I have this pic showing 891,940 total '02s were built. However, it does not (I believe) include the 808 2002s & 1602s assembled in Uruguay, the 11,700 2002s & 1602s assembled in Portugal or the cars assembled in Belgium (I do not know the total of these). Edit: 14,256 1600/1602 were assembled in Belgium, the number of 2002s eludes me.
  6. Hope you're not contemplating something dodgy?
  7. Previously, in one of it's sale attempts, it was stated as being manufactured 24th February, 1972. The car has been on a US tour for a few years now; I know of it being for sale in KY, WA, AZ, CA, TN & PA.

A little more spendy, but has the correct lettering for "typ" per the '74-'75 '02s http://www.coupeking.com/shop/product/vin-plates/
  9. Hi Shane, Just to be clear, your 1971 2002 should have round rear lights.
  10. It's been for sale, same place in Houston, for over a year now. A few months ago they wanted $37, 500 for it.
  11. I did all black in Da Beater...………..it's like the black hole of Calcutta. Never again. At least put an Esty grey carpet in as a contrast.
  12. Probably because people search/look for 2002 or 1602...…..maybe. Looks pretty decent, especially if the underside is good. Wonder what the reserve is, and, how much the junkyard paid for the car?
  13. Here's another auto in WA, not that far from the other one. https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/bmw/2002/2089330.html Needs some work & trucking back east, but the price leaves some room for improvement, and, as it's been for sale some time, Seller may come down some more.
  14. Apparently, a little known section here on the faq……….. https://www.bmw2002faq.com/articles.html/technical-articles/history-and-reference/bmw-2002-service-repair-manual-r247/ click on item 7 - Brakes This will get you started.
  15. The car is close to Seattle where there's a few 02ers. Like Mark said, put a message out and see if one will go take a look at it for you.
  16. In case there are more Foreigners, like me, MTBF Mean time between failures is the predicted elapsed time between inherent failures of a mechanical or electronic system, during normal system operation. MTBF can be calculated as the arithmetic mean time between failures of a system. Your welcome.
  17. What?? I had 2760152 (Inka) in my database as being in MD back in 2007. I pm'd Gary (the Seller) just to male sure it was the same car. It was and he's owned the car since then, if not longer.
  18. 2760152 Inka tii was in MD a dozen years ago. Is this the same one? Edit: Seller pm'd me. I'm good.
  19. It's been a week. Have you not found your camera/phone, or the car, yet? edit: I see the pics!! Is that 2760152?
  20. They always seem to have cars that are a step away from a junkyard, so the paragraph at the bottom of their auction makes me smile. "If you are the lucky winner of this auction, you will be extremely pleased. Our cars are always in great shape and attract a lot of attention on the road, so much attention; they rarely make it to eBay due to sales through informal offers. We regard our reputation very highly and customer satisfaction is our paramount concern. Therefore, we take pride in all our transactions and value every person who visits our auctions. We are extremely selective in the automobiles we purchase. We invest a lot of time to locate automobiles around the nation which are in pristine condition, of paramount quality, and which are of the most sought after models. In addition, the automobiles we restore ourselves are done with high quality materials and professional care."
  21. You might try this place, however, they seem to get their parts from W & N, so they may be out of them too. http://www.restoration-design.com/store/category/BMW
  22. Agree. 2531775 was reportedly built 3 Dec 1969, so the car would be very close.
  23. Put a message in the Parts Wanted section. FWI it's M10 left hand thread.
  24. I assume the 15 mins was just putting back in the car...?
