  1. You may have a point, but, then it should be in a loom with another wire that goes to the hatch door switch.
  2. Perhaps a pipe clamp could be made to work. Check for Hydac or Stauff clamps. Maybe utilise the two plastic halves and the top plate. Assume tapped holes are on the underside of the dash.
  3. I wondered, as there's a separate switch, if the switch is located under the brake pedal??? Every time you brake, the horn goes off? No mention in the book of the loudness (Hz).
  4. For USA only, the parts book shows Horn Set part # 61 33 1 358 469....."ONLY FOR CITY NEW YORK" Comprised single round horn, relay, cables and a separate switch.
  5. Actually 51 11 1 815 611 Readily available if you have deep pockets......circa $15 ea.
  6. I believe that's Bob Kaufman. His faq ID is TiLux and he's still around on the board.
  7. Below is the page from my old Parts Book showing the glove box and all its components. It gives you the individual part numbers for the latch and the "bearings" (like a pipe clamp) and the quantities you require (no doubt all will be long NLA). The same can be found using RealOem, and its the best your going to get. I would suggest, as others have, that you get used to using RealOem; it is a great utility. Or, you could by the Parts Books! 8. Are you going into a new line of business? Less than ten years after its launch (August 1965), the Transit was already the most popular van in the United Kingdom - not only for good reasons though, as it was announced by a Scotland Yard spokesman that "Transits are used in 95% of bank raids" in the country thanks to its "performance of a car, and space for 1.75 tonnes of loot", turning it into "the perfect getaway vehicle". ?
  9. Considering the Seller has owned the car 20 years, he seems somewhat naive on '02s. That is, as Steve, noted, not an original interior.
  10. How long before a car was given a VIN & birthdate, were the engines assembled, complete with their respective fuel delivery parts? Maybe the April '72 date is when the "updated" parts were available, but the completed cars appeared May~June '72? Scan_Doc0007.pdf Scan_Doc0008.pdf
  11. My Blue Parts Manual (dated 15 Oct 1971 but updated into 1972) shows the changeover, related to the part nos in Jim's post as 1 Apr 1972. It shows the changeover from plastic to aluminium runners also as 1 Apr '1972. It does not mention VIN numbers.
  12. I have a Blue Parts Manual (vols 1 & 2). As it is dated Oct '71 I assume it is the fore-runner to the Orange one.
  13. If the car "is running well", why doesn't the Seller pull it out of the garage and wash it?
  14. So, FWIW, BMW began to put E Code stickers on Euro models for the last of the "model 71s" and the early "model 73" cars. Tourings had E6 Code stickers, and 2002s had E114 stickers. By early/mid '74 these stickers omitted the E code and were designated the model (ie BMW 2002/Cabrio IA).
  15. You seem to be missing it. It goes before the fuel pump. Some will say between the fuel pump & the carb, but I prefer to get rid of any muck before it gets into the pump.
  16. Yeah, you needed a trained ferret to get in there. Several areas under the bonnet where you can tell it was a LHD engineered car & a RHD afterthought.
  17. It kinda depends where you come from...……...?
  18. 2782052 was on Ebay (Nashville, TN) a couple of years ago.
  19. Hmmm, so you can get a key cut without showing proof of car ownership. Somewhat scary.
  20. It was like, 10 years ago......maybe $20~$25. Nothing from BMW is cheap☹️. They will need to see the Title to show that you own the car.
  21. It's been a good few years since I did this, but, armed with the title for the car and the key code, take it to a BMW Dealer and they should be able to get you a key. This is assuming no one has changed the ignition tumbler in the past.
  22. Sold on Ebay Jul '11 in Port St. Lucie, FL - stated as having new paint. Sold on Ebay Dec '17 in Birmingham, MI - stated as having rebuilt motor. If the Seller in FL was the original Owner, then, for some reason, he made no mention of it (actually, I thought he was a Dealer). The pic below is from the Jul '11 auction. Car looks pretty much the same (incl pre-'74 door panels).
