  1. Did you just buy the car, or are you same person that was selling it in January?
  2. According to the parts book, it should be priced per running metre. Here's another supplier. https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-parts/bmw-synthetic-strip-h5110d-51111808420
  3. The Touring's B-Pillar seal & the chromed piece are around 10mm longer than the saloon equivalent. So, basically, you will have a gap (top or bottom) if you use the saloon part. The B-Pillar saloon seal is not expensive (unusual for BMW) so you could try it and see how it looks. I'm not a fan of trying to cut and paste seals; as I mentioned earlier, the rear side window seals were NLA last year and I used saloon seals butted up to part of my old original. Looks terrible and the quality/stiffness of the OEM seal is not what they once were. I'll now replace them with "available again" Touring seals.
  4. Try emailing this guy in Germany. lapo-classics@gmx.de I bought a couple of good (used) B-Pillar chrome pieces (NLA) from him after the body shop threw mine away.
  5. Cool. Those seals were NLA last year when I was refurbishing my Touring. Considering W & N's €49 shipping costs now, they would be cheaper to get in the US, unless you're ordering many parts. https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-parts/bmw-left-vent-window-gasket-h51710-51361803163 Maybe BMW will make the B-Pillar seal & chrome piece for the Touring available again (one day).
  6. Here's an extract/reply from the Seller. Ripton (The Seller) 65 Hey @groceg! Thanks for the feedback, I also don’t love calling this car a tii, we do not have it badged that way either. BAT absolutely insisted we did because it left the factory as one (and is titled tii), I literally had 8 email exchanges with them about it, in the end they asked me to trust them about it. The paint is good, but you are correct, white is also very forgiving in hiding minor blemishes. This paint is in good shape, I have not altered these photos in anyway of course, but this is not a recent paint job, it still looks fantastic, and it absolutely has minor blemishes. The car has no outstanding mechanical issues, and is nothing but a blast to drive. I bought this car to do what I thought was right for it, I am sentimental about the car, and would love to keep it, but towing the line of what I can keep, and what I want; is always going to be tricky for a guy like me.
  7. Did they just decide that? I thought it was a "first in, best dressed" parking affair.
  8. It's in my Trg handbook Ray. That extra 1 litre might get me another 5 miles.............wonder why BMW called it the Touring?
  9. Yes, the Trg tank is deeper allowing it to hold 52 litres (13.8 US gals)
  10. 16 11 1 111 567 was for the Euro (non-USA) market for '73 & up. 16 11 1 111 602 was for the Euro & USA market for '73 & up. Both 51 litres - no clue what, if any, the difference is.
  11. Taiga would have had a black interior, and it's metallic.
  12. Ok, back to the pics. Here's a few, hopefully more will come from other participants. Great weather, great people, great cars.
  13. Which of the many swap & shows in the Country will you be at?
  14. Reportedly restored in 2005, rblt mtr, new fenders, re-upholstered seats. On Ebay 2006 in Shelton, CT. On Ebay Aug '10 (Mercedes Benz Dealer) Melbourne, FL. On Ebay Nov '10 (Mercedes Benz Dealer) Jupiter, FL. For sale May '11 (Classic Car Dealer) Washington, DC. Assume whomever bought it in 2011 in Washington, took it to St. Paul, MN (per the current Ebay Seller)
  15. Hi, I have all driver side floor pieces and central tunnel. They are part of an Esty plain grey carpet. The fuel line on the passenger side ruptured and ruined the carpet on that side. I've attached a pic when it was installed (new) but as I'm currently at the Mid-Am '02 event I cannot take pics of current condition until my return home Monday. Anyway the attached pic will show the colour and if that matches what you need. Regards, Les
  16. I'd be interested to know also. I replaced the hood during my Touring's recent refurb. Trying to start the car after it's 12 month sleep, the hood came crashing down. Like yours the torsion appears weak, but I do not know if it can be adjusted.
  17. When Edward had it for sale, he stated the car was in CA until 1982 and then put into storage until 2005. He did not mention it had been in Iowa. Out of curiosity, when was it registered in Iowa?
  18. Probably left for the nightshift. "Job and knock".
  19. AFAIK - The 1600 rear badge moved from above the trim to below the trim at the beginning of 1968..........basically when the 2002 first appeared, and its badge was always below the trim (well, until the '74-'76 models).
  20. Ray, Edward lived in Toronto and I think that's where the car likely was. Edward sold a few '02s back then and I think used Buffalo as an incentive to US Buyers.
  21. Here it is. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-BMW-2002-1600/163008011072?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649
  22. Previous Owner was selling it for $17k last September.
  23. That would be me. It started as a hobby while I spent 10 months of the year working all over the World. It was supposed to keep me occupied and out of the bars........that didn't work. I found a copy of Rob Torres' Register back around 2000 and it kinda grew from there. My current edition has over 10,000 entries. BMW 2002 Register - rev Apr '18 - edited.xlsx I recently sent the above Excel file to Jim Gerock but he trouble opening it. It's Excel 2016. Edit: I clicked on it, and, after 15 seconds or so, it opened ok for me. Hopefully it will for others.
